ADAM Rooney and the Disputed Contract – a saga even Dan Brown would have struggled to cobble together at the peak of his writing powers.

£84k a year for a league one player? and there are those amomgst our midst who wonder why AB ditched us when he did? No wonder PDC was "sacked", allegedly.

So what was the AB budget going to be for this season fatbasher, and were we going to blow it by signing Rooney?

Also, where did you get 84K per year. That would be reasonable!

The cost to the club is being reported at around 400K, or 10% of the  reputed old budget. Which is indeed madness IMO. However what I still don't know is whether this figure is a) true or b) whether it depends on him playing for England and scoring a hatrick of bicycle kicks against Brazil in the word cup final.

Seems like a very bad deal the club are better off out of, on the face of it. But Jed and co have been pretty good an talking up things to their favour when it suits (Di Canio/McCormack/etc).
