I'm all for them using the CG as a live music concert place as long as they get some decent bands and not shite like girls aloud.

Why? They would sell out in minutes at big ticket prices

I don't give a shit about the standard of acts they get, all that matters to me is getting as much money as possible from it.

I'm confused. Why is an investment firm run by an accountant organising concerts? Avelon Investments is run by Harry Kerr, someone who contributes to the financial press and was linked to a takeover at Portsmouth.  It has nothing to do with entertainment.

Or there is also a firm called Avalon Entertainment which is an international company. This looks more likely and certainly seems professional and acts for a number of top artists.

So have the Adver got its facts wrong or does Jed et al know what they're doing?

Maybe it's a tax thing.  Wasn't investing in rubbish films all the rage until they closed that loophole.  You chuck some investment into a loss making facility which allows some sort of tax write off to occur - Si?
They may well be paying the club to use the facilities and retaining all ticket receipts, but also incurring the losses for putting it on.  Rich people find all sorts of imaginative ways of making money even when they are losing it.

It's also worth noting that the corporate hospitality facilities are much improved now compared to the previous efforts, so more ways of milking the crazy people willing to pay the prices (I've done this myself at Wembley for a concert, it ends in a 2 hour roundtrip on the Central line until someone wakes you).

There were various film investment schemes, some were complete loss makers for tax offsetting, others were based on investing in a company that purchased film rights with borrowed money, who then claimed tax relief on loan interest payments.

I'd imagine the club will get some kind of fee, for the use of the CG, then anything else will go diferent pockets.

The last time, the pitch wasn't ruined by punters feet, but the mass of the stage, which basically sunk into it.

There is good case to make for artificial pitches in the lower leagues...although not ideal, in these days of climate change and multiple use, it has to be the way forward.  Look at some of the shit heaps we've had to endure recently. Football is pretty much a stay on your feet game these days....so it might improve skill levels.

Concerts, artificial pitches.. I feel a conspiracy coming on Smiley
