Chesterfield owner outlaws loan deals.....
http://www.football-league.co.uk/league1/news/20120508/chesterfield-owner-outlaws-loan-deals_2293324_2763885Chesterfield will not use any loan players next season as the club attempts to return to npower League One at the first attempt after suffering relegation.
News of the decision was announced at the fans' forum on Monday evening when 300 supporters attended the event at the b2net Stadium.
It will mean a busy summer of rebuilding, with owner Dave Allen highlighting three key areas which need strengthening.
"We are not having any loan players next season. We will have 20 outfield players and two goalkeepers," said Allen.
"What we pay will put us in the top six of the teams next season. There are one or two very interesting names that we are going to try and get.
"We need a 20-goal striker, a quality midfielder and a quality centre-back who can play alongside Neal Trotman."
Can any club at that level compete with others when it has such a policy? I know we have had some shit loans in the past but for every shit loan we have had a successful one that has helped the team in one way or another.
I personally like the long term loan and even some short term loans have been brilliant, without them we would never have had Foderingham, Carrick, Milner, Holmes etc
I think they can add to lower league teams squads and sometimes for little or no outlay in wages.
Yes I know that no club should rely on loans but they are a large part of lower league squad makeup these days and I would not like us to stop them completely.
