Without meaning to be disrespectful whats the connection with Costa Rica ? Just seems a strange choice of opponents for this type of game.

Its an International week anyway isn't it.

So I suspect this is just a friendly the Welsh FA arranges months ago before Speed passed on.

Rather than a tribute match set up specifically to honour Speed I think its just the first international match they have played since where they will pay tribute to him.

Speed made his debut for Wales on 20 May 1990 against Costa Rica at Ninian Park.  This would explain why Costa Rica were chosen as their opponents for tonights game.

On another note Billy has scored twice for the U21s today.
