'We lost the fire in our eyes'

PAOLO Di Canio wants to see fire in the eyes of his players once again as Swindon bid to return to winning ways following the goalless draw with Bradford.

Interesting that he says the players were too relaxed in training and the warm up.

My flatmate who is doing his coaching badges says that more often than not the behaviour of the players in the warm up is key. I guess this also holds water in training as well.

I guess Paolo was stuck between a rock and a hard place as if he was seen to make 4 or 5 changes to a team that had won the last 3 games, he's have been slated by the fans.

Hopefully Saturday's blip will be a reminder to the players that they have to stay focussed to win these 'easier' matches.

He probably went with the correct starting 11. I would again question the subs bench as he doesn't give himself any opportunity of changing the shape of the team or style of play. Always having 2 strikers on the bench seems to mean that none of the wingers get a look in - Connell seems to be our only "impact" sub but surely Gabilondo could offer a different kind of threat, especially when chasing a win against a team down to 10 men.

Bright eyes,
Burning like fire.
Bright eyes,
How can you close and fail?
How can the light that burned so brightly
Suddenly burn so pale?
Bright eyes.

Agree with Wiggy that the current choice on the bench limits us in how we can change things.  Bring back 7 subs!

I do find it a bit off that we haven't had a winger as a sub since, erm, ages. May as well sell/loan Esejas out ASAP in my opinion.

Don't get me wrong though, October has surpassed every expectation.

Fires in your eyes...?? rocket up your fucking arse more like it. Options on the bench to change if things are not going your way. Easy really....
