Following the disaster in London . . .

East Anglian Ambulance Service have launched a national "In case of
Emergency ( ICE ) " campaign with the support of Falklands war hero Simon
Weston.

The idea is that you store the word " I C E " in your mobile phone address
book, and against it enter the number of the person you would want to be
contacted "In Case of Emergency".

In an emergency situation ambulance and hospital staff will then be able to
quickly find out who your next of kin are and be able to contact them. It's
so simple that everyone can do it. Please do.

Please will you also email this to everybody in your address book, it won't
take too many 'forwards' before everybody will know about this. It really
could save your life, or put a loved one's mind at rest.

For more than one contact name ICE1, ICE2, ICE3 etc.

Good thinking that.  Think I'll do it at least.

But they may not be available on that number all the time, plus if the emergency services will be looking for ICE it will be quicker.

Hopefully they'll never have to go looking through my phone for those reasons though.

Hmmmm, its horrible to think people will be doing this just in case something happens again.  It's as if it's inevitable that something will happen again.

Has anyone been put off going to London for a while?

Flying to Heathrow in about 3 hours and then taking a tube to Kensington. Maybe I'm being stupid and taking unnecessary risks, but I'm not going to let terrorists rule my life.

Everyone just needs to carry on as normal. Easier said than done if you were actually caught up in it yesterday I know. One of the girls I work with, her best mate was on a train which was bombed, luckily apart from a few scratches etc she is fine, just doesn't fancy going on the underground in the near future and I would probably feel the same in her situation.

Saying that, most people weren't affected by it, and it won't stop me using the underground etc. If we spent our whole life worrying about it all and not going places/doing things etc then the terrorists have won.

I was there yesterday and today. My girlfriend works in central london, so was called down to show sympathy.

She's scared of going on the tube anyway, so thats no bad thing, but now she aviods the buses a bit n all! But eh? who wouldn't be a touch scared you know?

It's not only not letting terrorists win, I bet with the amount of security in London for the next week or so it's the safest place in the world.

I saw abc news last night and they had a bloke getting on a bus saying, 'If you get blown up, you get blown up' Soapy Tit Wank

My mum wouldn't be able to get any signal, and my dad would answer on the last ring as long as it wasn't between 1-4.30pm :smile1:   I'm kind of hoping to out live my phone anyway.
