Thanks for that.  So whats the opinion on a Sony Vaio with an i5, 4gb and 500gb hard drive.

If you can pick one up for under £600 its worth it, under £500 and you got a great deal.

Will suit all your needs for the next few years, the i5 is an excellent processor.

the i5 is an excellent processor.

Is it worth paying an extra £50 for the i5 instead of the i3?

Looking like £650 for an i5 sony viao.  May well go for that tomorrow.

Yes, much better multithreading so you can do a lot more at the same time.
