I have 9,000 songs on my iPod of Which I use my old, almost dead laptop to house my iTunes library. I want to put these songs on my MacBook pro now, is it possible to do this?
I had a look at senuti but the free download is only 1,000 songs. There is probably already a thread about this but I can't be bothered looking.
All sensible advise welcomed.

I couldn't find anything useful so just used an external hard drive instead. Will be interested to know if there is something out there as it was a pain in the arse.

the problem is that my old laptop keeps turning itself off after about 30 minutes so an external laptop isn't really an option.

There is an easy way of taking them straight off the iPod - I cant remember what but you select something so when you go in via my computer is the iPod is displayed as if it were an external hard drive and you can copy files across off of it.
It does work because I've done it, somehow. Sure I had to select something somewhere

Realistically you're going to struggle to move 9,000 songs off of a dying laptop within a 30 min window. Might have to move them in batches or something equally as tiresome.

Get an external caddy for the drive in your old laptop. Then you can get all the data off it nice and easy.
Pretty certain you should be able to open a Windows iTunes library on a Mac (if your old laptop is Windows). Though it was years ago I moved my library across and can't remember the details. Otherwise just import the tunes to the new library.
