I think Pardew would have always been 'on the brink' as long as they were failing to win week in/week out.
The 4-0 win over Bristol Rovers would have been an inconvenience for the Southampton board.

Discussed this on Saturday on the way back from Plastic land.
I commented that the Rovers result should keep the Monkeys off Pardews back. I agree with Rich.....the Saints board must of sighed at that result.
Kick off the season tonight with a win on pens then two league wins on the bounce....

"According to Sky Sports, Southampton are looking to appoint Paul Hart as their new manager."
Laughable appointment that would be.

That will not go down well with Saints fans having an ex scummer in charge.

Probably a good fit for Saints actually. Hart didn’t mind Flavio Briatorre picking the team when he was QPR so he probably won’t mind working for this dictator either.

Stefpol are you mad. They had a big points deduction last season and were coming back from administration. Pardew did very well. This was a big big mistake. Few in the list could do a better job. Hoddle ( GOD) could but hes fallen out with them, or them with him. Others on the list are not better than Pardew, so why change. We beat them 3-0, maybe not had Pardew been there. Fortunate time to play them, papers over our own cracks a bit. Blimey Pericard scored 2

The spin is similar to Middlesbrough's excuse for letting Southgate go last season.
I was never bothered about Pardew until his comments before our win at St. Mary's last season. Knobhead.
He pissed me off when he had the chance of thumping Wenger and in the end walked away, what a waste of a golden opportunity to thump 'Old Specsavers' and be in the right.

This is the third time we beat Saints "at the right time" 1-0 @ CG - Finding it hard to adjust to League One 1-0 @ SM - Focusing on the JPT Final 3-0 @ SM - The felt down because they'd sacked their manager Can't we just enjoy a victory when it comes and encourage/praise struggling players when they do well (considering the amount of abuse us fans throw at them when it's not going well).
