Boot-up Problem
«

Having some trouble booting up my newer laptop.
Switch the power button on to start a normal boot-up and after about 3 seconds the screen goes black. I then get a request for a password in the top left hand corner of the screen.
Any idea how to rectify this? I'm assuming from my limited computer knowledge that this might be a doss thingy but not sure.

Did you set a BIOS password?
If so, you can just take the CMOS battery out for a couple of minutes, pop it back in and the password will be gone.

I'm not sure. If I did, it wasn't on purpose.
I'll have ago at taking out the battery for a while as suggested.

Sounds about right.

Although if it's a very new laptop, they have a security chip on the mobo which are a right pain to reset the BIOS.
The manufacturer should have a 'backdoor' way in though and a master password.
