Perhaps before suggesting it as a national anthem, someone might do a bit of research into the poem, what Blake's politics were, what he was actually saying about his country.  The irony of its bombastic tune, and its singing at the Last Night of the Proms etc with Union Flags waving would have tickled Blake!!!

It would have tickled Parry its composer too.. he was a humanist and socialist and wrote it as a supporter of womens suffrage, not as a bombastic anthem.
