The Big Match - Replayed

For the last couple of years ITV4 have been showing episodes of The Big Match from the corresponding weekend 30 years ago - I'm sure that many of you saw them. No frills, just banging out the original programme, complete with distorted theme tune (DA NA NA NAAAA NA NAAAAA......) from the old tapes & brilliant ties, sheepskin coats & parkas.

I have never watched anything ever that evokes so many brilliant memories. You can always tell where & when there had just been a fight on the terrace, "You're gonna get your fuckin ead kicked in", after the away team scored, all the 2-fingered salutes in the background (we hadn't adopted the middle-finger one yet), the muddy/sandy pitches, the first-minute 'reducer' tackle.....everything.

In short, I absolutely fucking loved every minute of every episode, and ITV are utter cunts for not showing them this season.
