Stopper's fury at officials

IT is fair to say that referee David Phillips and his assistants won’t be on Phil Smith’s Christmas card list this year.

To be honest I like the fact that we seem to accept bad decisions (if it was) in good grace rather than chasing refs around screaming and shouting.  Maybe Im being a bit biased about this but we do seem to have less whingers than most clubs.

Hadn't realised it was a goal-kick they were appealing for after the 2nd goal. The TV angle doesn't make it very easy to form an argument either way, so I'm going to side with Smith and say the officials cost us! Smiley

After reading Smith's rant, I was disappointed that the highlights weren't conclusive on either goal. However, I've just come across this on the Southend site which would suggest their first goal probably did cross the line (8th pic from end) but that Smith was right about the ball going out before their second goal (3rd pic from end).
