Intersting but doubt it's true. They were considering selling their ground a few weeks back though. 20 odd million in debt they reckon.

Fair play, they might well win the league.

But theyve wasted a lot of cash getting there. Theyve had two managers, and let them both buy players, outbidding other league 1 clubs in fees and wages for players that have barely been used, compiling a huge squad. Just look at OTJ and McNamee.

To be honest, when I saw the board were letting Wilson sign 5 players in january I thought the same about us. And to be fair to Norwich, they have probably a 70% chance of going up now, whereas our chances are still somewhere around maybe 1 in 6?

I suppose it depends who they bring in and what sort of contract they are on. If they are players on 18 month contracts who are capable of pushing us into a push for 2nd place, and if the extra expenditure will be adjusted for in the summer, then fair enough. Norwich have spent a lot of money on players who aren't even getting into their first team, and it looks like it could all go tits up if they hit a dip in form and finish 3rd.

As you say we have a lot of players who are comming to the end of their contracts, that wont be renewed. We have a manager who is providing stability to the whole club in a long term contract.

But I was suprised by the talk of 5 more signings in january. This is a good team, Lescinel is the only real worry and Sheehan should be signing a permanent to take his place. When you get a good feeling in football, its easy to let blood rush to the head.

(like me at Rovers when I put 40 quid on us winning).

I think they may have just weighed up the options Spencer and looked at the likes of Aljofree and peacock and even Paynter and Jpm who may be off off and thought they can maybe release the funds now.I do think though that if that is the case we wont see a very busy summer which is a good thing imo

I agree. Some of the transfers over the summer are so protracted it is hell to get things done.

If you can do the business in January and swoop clinically like we did with Pericard then thats what the club should do.

Gives them half a season to blend as such aswell. Was interesting to see Pericard say that we are looking good for the playoffs but if we don't then we are good for the autos next year

We don't know how many of those 5 players will be on loan, or how much we'll be paying for any of them. They might all be non-league players that won't cost us much, or loan signings we won't have to pay much for.

We also don't know who is going and how much money it will save, we might have saved some money from Casal going and the same with Aljofree and Peacock if they go. It all adds up.

Though I was wondering if Fitton would spend some money for a promotion push if we were in distance come January, which we are.

i think going out and signing players like Pericard in January sends out a statement of intent that we are going to have a real go at getting promotion, maybe a few more of the big day fans that we will see Tuesday evening may realise that the club is being ambitious and ran properly and they may come back more often. On the other hand, if we do not go up i am slightly worried that we might be saying an unwanted goodbye to some of our squad in the summer. A few of or team really are too good for this division e.g Douglas, Cuthbert and Lucas to name a definate trio.
