surely the garage can advise how to tax it?

It's the Carshop though, who are notorious for their excellent customer service.

Also, anybody had any dealings with extended warranties? Carshop have offered me one through the RAC at £25 a month. Seen others for around the same price and I'm wondering if it's worth my while getting one.

£25 a month is a bit steep! The company that does the 3 month warranty will send you through a cheaper quote at the end of the term to entice you anyway, but it's owrth getting some quotes.

It's an 06 plate with 60,000 miles. The ticket price was £5977, we negotiated a deal at £4088 plus our car as p/x.

Just a thought, but if the car is an 06 plate it may be less than 3 yrs old so the MOT won't be needed to tax it.
If this is the case, I would also suggest that if the first MOT is due in the next 4 months get it done before the dealers 3 mth warranty runs out !

si's right about the warrenty. they'll send you through a renewel which will be really cheap. but as your car has already done 60k (very high maleage for it's age) they may not offer decent cover

Picked the car up this evening. Got a run down to Weston-super-Mud tomorrow and didn't want the risk of anything happening to the car being p/x'ed.

They let me drive it away with no tax, obviously I'll get it sorted first thing in the morning.

Quite surprised with the service. Got handed the pre-delivery checklist which said 'advise front tyres < 1.5mm' and 'advise front pads'. There was me thinking I'd have to fork out £200+ near enough straight away on tyres on pads, but low and behold when I saw the car it has 4 brand new tyres and brand new front brake pads. Nice one Carshop. That'll save my expenses for a year or so.

Yes, legal is 1.6mm so they had no choice.

I thought there were additional legalities brake disks needing to last 4000 miles after purchase, but I can't find that on t'internet so maybe I dreamt it.
