Honeymoon? You must be staying in Nusa Dua I guess?  Kuta Beach at sunset is good, nightmare for hawkers in the day though. I liked Ubud in the centre near the volcano thats more laid back. Days/trips out you can take are to Lombok and Komodo. And if you want a bit of peace(the hawkers really are bad) Then head to the north of the island.

Just remembered Kintamani is the volcano to the north of ubud.  The rice terraces and the temples around Ubud are worth visitng also.

I also liked Ubud, you can get a taxi driver to take you on a day trip to there and the volcano for a reasonable price.  Lovina in the north was worth a trip as well, some good diving around there especially, and there's a US shipwreck from WW2 to explore if you fancy.  Not sure how long it took to get up there, too much for just a day trip I would have thought.

Say hello to Wayan for me Smiley

Through some quirk of fate,Bali is almost the same shape as the Isle of Wight! More than likely you'll stay
in Nusa Dua which is on the southern tip, with all of the high class hotels and all inclusive holiday packages.

Try venturing out to see the surfers and the reefs on the west coast at Kuta.Lots of small bars, restaurants
and shops. As an alternative,we stayed two times in Sanur, which is on the east coast and almost parallel to
Kuta.Small shops, restaurants and a nice long beach. We bought some carvings and batik paintings here.

Ubud is a must and what we liked most of all there, were the artist galleries, which are run as co-operatives
and if you wish to purchase any paintings, you deal with the artist himself! We had hired a mini bus with
some other hotel guests and we found this cheaper, than the usual high prices advertised. We travelled along
the east coast, past rice terraces and saw the bat forest and fishing villages and temples.

Make sure upon your arrival, that the hotel knows it's you honeymoon,if not just slip it into the conversation
and the Balinese will go out of their way to welcome you for sure.As i mentioned earlier,we talked to other
guests about hiring a minibus and then looked at prices.Talking to hotel employees, everyone knows someone
who can do a good deal for you and has a "good vehicle" and can show you around, so that's what we did.

One world of warning, although Bali, especially Kuta has a reputation for a party and sometimes hedonistic
lifestyle,be warned drugs aren't tolerated. At Denpasar International airport in recent times, several Aussies
have been caught, some guilty, some completely innocent by all accounts,so be careful and keep your luggage
and possesions with you,or within sight when you enter the airport.Never carry anything for anyone else,it's
easy when on holiday in the tropics to relax and to be forgetful.

We visited when i was living and working in the far east,so fortunately no jet lag.If you're changing planes
in Singapore, you won't believe how good Changi airport is.Bali's great, but like everywhere you get out of it
what you put in,so a good friendly attitude and lots of smiles and appreciation of the local culture (Hindu in
Bali) will ensure a great time.Have fun.
