A BODY has been discovered in a river at Bradford on Avon.

Wiltshire Police were called yesterday evening after the body was reported 200 metres downstream from the weir on the River Avon.

The body has been taken to Southmead Hospital mortuary in Bristol, where a post mortem examination will be conducted at 11am today by Home Office pathologist Dr Huw White.

Formal identification of the body has not yet been completed.

BOMB disposal experts have been called to North Star following the discovery of a suspect package.

Police have cordoned off Polaris Way after the package was found at Polaris House, the home of the Government’s research councils.

The building is believed to have been evacuated and Explosive Ordnance Disposal experts are currently on the scene.
