The hot bed of piracy throughout the medieval period into the 19th century, was the so called Barbury Coast....nothing to do with our local wonderful hillfort, but rather a coruption of Berber, the people of North Africa.

These Islamic pirates thought it fair game to seize infidels and send them into slavery. Although the west gets the rap for sub Saharan slavery, many of the merchants were Arabic, and slavery is still practised in countries such as Mali and Niger til this day.

I always thought that Tolkien's the Corsairs of Umbar were based on Barbury pirates.

You wouldn't steal a handbag. You wouldn't steal a car. You wouldn't steal a baby. You wouldn't shoot a policeman. And then steal his helmet. You wouldn't go to the toilet in his helmet. And then send it to the policeman's grieving widow. And then steal it again! Downloading films is stealing. If you do it, you will face the consequences.

haha class, new series of IT Crowd friday isnt there?
