Are you speaking on behalf of the perverts or the hooligans?

How do you know 5 is a joke? Surely you have to take into account such things as how many people are on the sex offenders register, how many aren't allowed to travel, how many try to travel, etc.
You're judging numbers out of context. Just saying 5 is rubbish doesn't make any sense. They could have stopped 995 travelling abroad in that time. a 99.5 % rate would be pretty good would it not?

Also, I thought England Football Hooligans were only banned from travelling when England, or English sides, were playing abroad? Bit easier to enforce isn't it?
If I am wrong then please feel free to educate my ignorant, idiotic self.

Oops I read the statistics backwards I think. Is it only 5 are banned from travelling? or what? I'm confused now.

He has now refused to board a plane from Bangkok to London, trying to say that he was having a heart attack (Although a doctor said he is OK). Thailand wont let him in the country and so he is in limbo at the airport facing possible deportation back to Vietnam.
Freak.

I just read a news article, (Sorry no link). And part of it mentioned how fellow passengers on the plane from Vietnam to Bangkok where asking for autographs from him. What FUCKING IDIOTS, this guy is the lowest of the low and yet there are some who still want his autograph.

Apparently he's faked a heartattack whilst he was supposed to be joining a connecting flight from Thailand to Britain... Fair play for trying I suppose, but no one is going to want him after all the bad publicity he's had. Read this on the BBC website, and couldn't help but thinking they were taking the piss with the Thai Chief of Police's name: Lt Gen Chatchawal Suksomchit....
No? Just me then...

Right ile try to educate and that ime not good at,the point is in the last ten years the government in conjunction with our please have only ever used there powers to stop 5 out of potentially thousands of known sexuall predators to travel abroad.I.E they could have used sed powers to stop Glitter traveling abroad and violating other youngsters but they chose not too.But if me and you get in fisticuffs at Leeds they will stop us going abroad at the drop of a hat to watch any football. Most perverts go abroad for there sordid fun mainly teaching or charity work to get near children. My point is most have records and the law was put in place to stop them walking ito jobs etc that would jeopardise youngsters.Of course these people shouldnt be stopped traveling abroad for holidays etc, unfortuanatly thats there human right. I was raised in a council home and saw the effect child abuse had on other young kids i lived with...i see the Guernsey debacle has more or less been forgoten. Sorry but things of this nature really upset me because it seems our government dosnt do alot to protect our children but more importantly the children abroad who are very very easy prey. So in a nutshell what the hell is our law doing letting sick people like glitter go abroad in the first place, when he has a record, and we have supposed laws to stop him,and for every famous face going abroad theres hundreds unfamous people doing what he does. Apologies for the ramble!

I guess it's a power that you have to justify using, and there probably aren't to many cases that are on the line where you can say someone is not dangerous enough to be in prison, but too dangerous to travel abroad.
I suppose it depends on how the mechanisms for deciding such things can work. You can get put on the sex offenders register for relatively minor things. Should you be banned from travelling because you flashed your bits at a police woman whilst pissed? Probably not. Luring little boys into your basement? Probably yes, but the latter there's a good chance you're already in prison / on probation so there's other legal mechanisms from stopping you travelling anyway.
I'm not being too picky but I still don't think I know enough about these stats to just blindly say it's a terrible thing. Are there really only 5 sex offenders who aren't allowed to travel, or have there only been 5 stopped using this certain legislation? You often read stuff like this, especially in the more sensationalist papers, but as soon as you do a bit of digging into the real legal methods and statistics it turns out to be a bit misleading for the sake of a good headline.
I suppose I've just become super cynical.
