my sister just called from cuba asking me to find out if she's allowed to carry hand luggage and a hand bag onto the flight back.
anyone know anything? she didn't specify asking you lot but i'm drawing blanks when i google anything

As long as you can put the hang bag in the hand luggage if required I think.
Import restrictions from Cuba are horrid: One pack of Cigars, One bottle of rum. I mean, really. Tell her to buy lots of Cuban Coffee though, the stuff is amazing.

nemo is right, only 1 item of hand lugage allowed, a lot of women think that means their hand luggage and a handbag, but they are sticked on it, so as said if she just puts her hand bag into the hand luggage whilst going through customs all is fine

you were allowed two pieces of hand luggage when i flew to/from the states...i guess it depends on the airline, if you know who your sister is flying with check their website.

BA advised that Heathrow were allowing 2 pieces (airline dependant) but Gatwick hadn't released the 1 bag limit. |

I always just take a big coat when I get on a plane - I don't wear it, I just stick stuff in the pockets and carry it as well as a back pack. They might look at you odd when they find out you have a week's worth of boxers in your coat, but what are they going to do about it ?
Also, getting hold of a big post office mail sack is good - you can put as many bags as you like in one of them and then check it in as one piece, as long as it doesn't weigh too much - and its also quite good protection against having all the straps torn off of your rucsac by the twats at Heathrow.
Just some pikey international business traveller tips for you there.
