I don't think anyone who plays league football is a hoofball merchant, they are clearly better than all of us at playing the game.  The problem is, under pressure it's the easy out ball.  You only have to look at the change from Macari to Ardiles to see that players can pass a ball around if they are given freedom to do so.  It takes a willing crowd and a brave Manager though, someone willing to accept that mistakes will happen when you start spraying the ball around on the grass.

The fact so many different line-ups get chosen goes to show it's not as simple as many post match reactionary comments would suggest.
