Yeah, went through all that when I had my hip ops, at least it is nice to know that you pass on all the basic things!!  The MRSA is an interesting one.  Fail that and I wouldn't have been allowed in (Brunel Treatment Centre) until I had taken enough antibiotic to kill it off.  However, on the first op, the guy who was originally in the next bed to me never returned to the ward.  Apparently he suffered a problem during the operation  and he was rushed to intensive care.  He was not allowed back as icu is not mrsa free!!  That gave me a lot of confience on our ward, but fuck all about the rest of the hospital!!

my girlfriend is a nurse at the same hospital in EAU and the ward i'll be on (B1) is apparently MRSA free which is a good sign

It was my knee that got cut open three weeks ago and it is not too bad. The worst part was at the hospital loads of drugs and not knowing what going on but I couldn’t sleep cos I was so wired. The pain is ok but the leg still feels really stiff and it takes over a week to notice any improvement. I walk ok but further than about 500 yards and I get quite unsteady on my feet. I bet ur thinking 6 weeks off work will be a blag like I did but now I see why the doctors make you take the time off. Good luck waiting is the hard part then when it’s over look forward to being able to run and play footy again. I know I am   Beers

did they go in key hole with yours?
they're going in through key hole on mine then i'll be in traction for 12 hours which doesn't sound like fun

Key hole then stuck me in a bed next to some guy who had just had a hernia. Ouch! All you will want to do is sleep forever after the op. make sure u stock up on DVDs and computer games because it gets very boring. Also for the first few days you cant really stand up for long so get someone (girlfriend/wife/mother) to cook and clean for you. I found a bell helped the misses keep on her toes. Where’s my tea!!!

I used to stay in bed for far longer than that when I was at uni. If going for a piss was too much effort I would go back to sleep.
