& Projector Screens Knowledge required.

Don't want an LCD/Plasma but looking to get a projector screen home cinema stylie (6-8 feet job)

Ideally, wanna spend £400 max (having done some brief research, the projector appears to be the most costly bit ranging from £50 odd quid to £699951...yes really.

Who knows anything about these?? and recommendation??

did you want HD?

there's not many out there for under 400 notes that'll do 720p let alone 1080p.

watch out for the cost of replacement lamps - they can be fucking expensive so worth checking out beforehand.

And make sure the throw fits your room well. And you'll need a quality screen unless you have really really flat walls!

Never owned one myself, but seen a few and have read a bit about them. I'd check out the ThemeScene HD70, seems to be getting good reviews. Also the Optoma HD700X. They're both around 400 quid and remember you'll need to spend £100 on a screen.

best bet is go to a dealer and ask for a demo to see what you like. Also have a browse through What HiFi and Home Cinema to see prices and specs - beware of their reviews sometimes though as I think they are heavily influenced by their advertisers.

took your advice on the Themescene hd70

after a chat with the techy-geek at maplins who was very helpful, made me way into town to audio-t, got a demo and snapped up that little beaut with a screen as well for £500! result

it was reduced from £800 (inc screen) down to £550 and was his last one, so I asked him to knock another £50 off which he did

best price on pricerunner for projector alone was £446, so me thinks I got meself a bargain.

good work fella cheers
