My mum makes soup and in the winter it's lovely to warm you up.

Has to be served with hot buttered bread though.

I think the original idea of soup was to avoid throwing away left overs, but I do agree it seems to be a lot of effort involved

There's no law against it. Plus you can make a huge batch and freeze it. Yes its effort, but often worth it.

I don't care as it my missus who puts the effort in, the only effort involved from me is lifting spoon from bowl to mouth   Oh, and clearing up the debris

It's a pain to make but the taste is much better and you know what's gone into it - I only do it for a special occasion
