The guy who won the fans vote was gash, ok he scored a good goal, but his all round contribution was rubbish and he fluffed a couple of easy chances so badly that me and my lad were pissing ourselves

It was a PR excercise that failed miserably. You can't tell how useful a player is going to be on one game anyway.

And this was the crux with why I thought it was a bad idea.  It carried no weight and was a cynical way of getting 25p per person.  Much better ways exist of fleecing us of our cash and much better ways of getting PR.
