"Three Bampton residents Arnold Woodley, Jack Horn and Reg Absolom formed the Bampton Pumpkin club in March, 1969. Every October there is a Pumpkin club weigh-in, where all contestants' Pumpkins are weighed, with the winner receiving a prize. The first ever winner of the club weigh-in was Joe Buckingham with a gourd weighing 51.5lbs. After the weigh-in the pumpkins, along with flowers, fruit and vegetables, are put up for auction. The sum of money raised is donated to the local pensioners." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bampton%2C_Oxfordshirei want to die

That is nothing..........front page of our local paper last week was a story about how a pensioner got charged an extra 20p or something by the post office because a birthday card was a few CM's too big :|

it takes something special to keep cheese rolling off the front pages. To be fair, cheese rolling is quite good news.........the amount of injuries that happen is pretty spectacular, but insignificant when compared to a Pensioner having to pay an extra 20p for a stamp.
