Injury update

Today is the day that I get the cast off my leg finally! 6 weeks this has been my faithful friend and today it will be removed and I will get to try and walk again! I am not looking forward to the physio to be honest, I remember when I had my left knee rebuilt after I tore my cruciate ligaments and damaged my cartlidge and there was literally zero muscle in the knee. I suppose the good thing to come out of this is that my left leg seems much stronger now and my arms have built up as it is bloody hard work getting around on crutches!

I have just read on the internet that it can take between 4 to 6 months to regain previous levels of mobility so doesn't look like I'll be playing football again this year!

And I get to see my scar at last!

i've got to have my cruciate ligament re built soon on my right knee.

i've already had the Medial Ligament done but the doc discovered my cruciate was torn too.  :shock:

So you are going to have a Macintosh as well??

I had 3 incisions, 1 on the right hand side vertically down the leg just below the knee, and 2 incisions on the right hand side of the leg vertically to the left hand side down the knee and one horizontally away from the knee. Had about 35-45 stitches in total. I'll be honest, the physio is hard work Magic, the muscle is completely worn away and even simple stuff like just holding your leg in the air is agony.

The Achilles surgery had 21 stitches

Before I had surgery on the Achilles, the surgeon spotted the scars on my knee and noted I had had a Macintosh, apparently this is what the rebuilding of the knee is known as, they take some muscle from somewhere and use is to repair the ligaments.

yeah i got told some of my thigh muscle will be used to be the new ligament.

how long was the op?

was you in Hospital for a while or just overnight

I had the op done about 8 or so years ago so it is all a bit hazy. I have no idea how long the op took at all!! I think I was in hospital for 3 days afterwards and then given some sort of robotic device on my leg and some crutches!

When are you getting yours done?

not 100% sure. got an appointment on monday to asses how my medial ligament is doing and then i assume we'll sort the cruciate too.

Cast is off and it feels weird as fuck not having a big heavy thing on my leg. I still have crutches and have been signed off work until 30th June whilst I get physio.

lebowski injury update: hayfever is being a right cunt. i cant stop sneezing and have a constant stream of snot running down my face. specialists tell me that this sorry state of affairs will continue for the next 8 weeks or so, then i should be back at 100%.

I get hayfever as well, the other day I couldn't stop sneezing even though I never left the house. There is a fuckoff tree outside our apartment which stinks of blossom that I think is the culprit!

i blame carbon offsetting: all of a sudden every fucker wants to plant trees, and that is only going to make my injury much, much worse.
