We officially went metric in 1973, when we acceded to the then Common Market.....so I thought hey I'll give it a go....its the future and I liked the idea of being European.....had to unlearn loads of stuff about chains, furlongs.....quarts, gallons..... ounces, pounds, hundredweights and tons etc.

But it was easy enough, I'm quite good at forgetting stuff.

agreed. i like it, if you wanna go for the fights, go watch the 2nd-tier swindon team... my mate plays for em, we were playing some team from london, made up purely of canadians, alot of fights Tongue blood too. woop! Tongue

oh yea, and the Icelords were about 10years ago. we won the league too, but went under after EA sports pulled the plug on their sponsorship. i cant remember why tho, i think there was a scandal or summat.

For Ice Hockey fighting, I recommend cult 70's film "Slapshot", featuring Paul Newman. Lots of ridiculous lines in it as well... You can't go wrong!

I remember my kids being conceived and the relationship with STFC....and the game I had to leave the missus for after the birth of number one.

But I forgot about this thread.

I also used to be the physio for the Swindon team while they were the Swindon Phoenix (i think) was quite a few years ago now. Great fun and the fights are great too! Atmosphere is shit  though Sad

Another 'Leafs fan here. I say fan, I mean I read their results on teletext. Blame the misses cousins, bleedin' moose fuckers! Saw them play in the Air Canada centre last time we were in Toronto. Nice stadium, like the way it converts to a basketball (bloke netball) court too. Prefered the Maple Leaf Gardens though.

Anyway, strangest crowd chant I heard was at the SJ Shark v Dallas stars. Sharks score their 4th, organ does the Scooby Doo 'puppy power' thing, everyone chants "PIZZA"! Apparently a local Pizza company was sponsoring the game and to quote the bloke next to us "4 in the net, Pizza we get".  Other than that American crowds 'suck ass'.

Been to a few Swindon games, was reasonably good fun if a little local league-ish.
