OST; you may be well aware of this already but thought I'd share this info with you anyway.

Rick Buckler is in a band called "The Gift". They played Bedford about 3 weeks ago; couldn't go as I got back from Scotland that night and saw the concert was on that evening! Was a bit gutted.

Here's a link from the website; they do all the Jam stuff. They're playing Putney in August. Not knowing London I have no idea if that's near you at all but thought I would pass you the info so you could see.

Bruce Foxton I still thought was with Stiff Little Fingers; but he is now in a new band called "Casbah Club"

There's the website link again if you're interested.

Oh; and when you go on the Casbah club website; you can listen to 3 songs. Listen to Any Way She Moves; thought they were going to cover "Start" for a minute as exactly the same start (sorry for the pun); apart from just a tad slower.

Your mum is lucky then. Can't imagine Paul's mum working with them though!

Foxton left SLF earlier this year and was bizzarly replaced by the person he previously replaced !!

Cheers for that Bedders, I have to say, I tend to think of The Jam as Paul Weller plus a A. Drummer and A.Bassist.  Maybe I'm doing a bit of a dis-service to the other two but their track records since The Jam split would tend to bear that out. It would still be interesting to see them live though after all these years. They do seem to be stuck in a bit of a time wharp don't you think?

I'm hoping to see the real thing (Weller that is) later this year. He's doing the London Forum and the Brighton Centre which are both quite handy, plus Dublin Olympia which I wouldn't mind popping over for.

I can see why Rick Buckler's doing the tribute stuff; though i agree about the time warp thing. There's more chance of Hell freezing over than the Jam ever re-forming; and he obviously likes playing the drums again to the excellent tunes; and may-be making a bit out of it.

I was surprised just how much that song The Casbah Club nicked from "Start" though. And the website says they formed in 2005 but on Amazon there's an album from 2004 which has some Jam covers on etc.

I guess they both realise that's the best way they're going to make money out of music though.

I wish I could make that claim!

The best I can claim is to have seen SLF on 'Sight and Sound in Concert" (Remember that? It used to be broadcast simultaneously on BBC2 and Radio 1) in the late 70's/early 80's when they were supported (supported mind you!) by a hitherto unknown band from Dublin by the name of U2

I wish I could say I had actually been to the gig but all I did was watch it on TV.  Well, you're a bit limited when you're living in the rural west of England, you're too young to drive and your only source of income is a paper round!
