Just a thought.
There is all this talk about Willie C acting as a figurehead for the club and the positive benefits this brings, whatever they are!
Now I cannot knock Willie as he has put money into the club in the past, but with his raching commitments they do seem to clash with games on Saturday.....
However, I was reading the paper yesterday and there was a story about Billie Piper, the crux of which was that until she was famous she was a normal Swindon teenager etc, and it suggested that she used to come and watch the town.
Therefore - woundn't she be a much better option as this perceived figurehead, on a serious note she may get the younger types interested, an area where we struggle, and on a more important basis she would be nice to look at?
What you reck??

I definitely think Billy Piper should be the new Chairman (woman) of STFC. That is definltey the way forward.

1. I'm afraid I don't find her nice to look at ! 2. I don't think she has ever shown any sign of being either s STFC fan nor chairman material. 3. Carson can talk very well on TV. What would Piper's quotes be like ? Maybe 'Swindon ? Aw wick-id !'

Dont most people who become famous suddenly say that 'they were born in London?' this is probably the case with Billie.
I agree with NMH i dont think she's nice at all, number 11 in FHM top 100 sexiest women.

You never know, the Bill Piper and Power combination could be a winner.

she seems happy to admit that she is from Swindon....but then again she also said it was a "bit of an armpit".....perhaps that was meant in a nice way?

To be fair, I like living in Swindon, but I'd be quite happy (well, perhaps not happy) to concede that it is indeed "a bit of an armpit". However, it needn't be - it's not institutionally armpit in the way, say, Bracknell or Slough are - and there are things that can be done to improve it.

A prestigeous development in the centre of Town maybe ?

Possibly something along the lines of a sports/leisure hub, based around a stadium redevelopment as part of a major town centre regeneration project. That would be quite good.

it's not institutionally armpit in the way, say, Bracknell or Slough are - and there are things that can be done to improve it. Indeed. I lived in Basingstoke, butt off many deserved 'shithole' jokes. Then the council pretty much knocked down the town centre shopping and rebuilt it over 2 years. If Basingstoke and Deane can do that surely Swindon CC can manage a major 'facilities' upgrade including sports stadium/complex, library, etc.
