Tom Nichols released along with some decent League Two players.

I’d happily take Hiram Boateng

It's always fun to look at these lists and watch other league two clubs sign them.

Nichols splits opinion but I like him. I remember us 'Being after' Boateng for a while about a year back. If that was Jamie Russell then he might end up at Salford!

Nichols is a good rotational player to have at the level.

It’s a no for Aden Flint from me in case it gets mentioned.

Nichols looks a far better link up player sat in the front of the midfield than as a striker/number 10, in the last 4 or 5 games playing in that role he looked excellent.

I would take him back 100%.

Christy Pym is an excellent keeper. If Ripley leaves, we should go all out for him

What about Alfie Kilgour, a big CB who is relatively local.
Was there captain until injury, appeared to play most of the second half of the season when he came back.

I must admit I have never been impressed with him when hes played against us, his distribution is poor and he doesnt command his area.

No idea whether he is up to it any more being 35, so jury would be out on him coming back. But from a wiki he actually seems to have gone on to have a pretty decent career and shocked to see Middlesborough allegedly paid £7m for him.....


Sounds like a depressing shoe in for us then based on recent seasons....

I’ve no doubts he could probably still do a decent job for us for a season and agree he’s had a decent career but after his public outcry whilst at Bristol City he may have burnt his bridges here and not sure the fans would forgive him.

Aaron Pierre was decent at Wycombe. Legs might be gone now though!

Be inclined to have him back, dependent on what wages he was after (and him buying some boots with studs).

I’d take Theo Vassell but not sure if he’d fancy it after Smith tried taking his head of at their place.

Five non-penalty goals in the league isn't good enough to warrant the high wages imo

Louis Reed another year triggered, not bad considering he cost Mansfield a bag of crisps and a box of Smarties.

Think we are more likely to get Alfie Kilgour as an ex-Rovers player.

Bradford City Released:
Callum Johnson, Gabe Wadsworth, Jamie Walker, Romoney Crichlow, Sam Stubbs & Vadaine Oliver.

I know its clamouring for ex players but i'd love Crichlow back. Good Left footed CBs are harder to come by.

Was decent here and just played in a promoted side for the last few months of the campaign. He'd be a good signing.

Don’t want to sound arrogate here, but in terms of sides in L2 next season we have got to be one of the most attractive for a player. With our form in 2025 and some of the players here surely players would see a good chance at promotion. Unfortunately the off field stuff is where we are let down (again).

Was thinking much the same.  Without promotion, I would specualte that Bradford would have offerred him a new deal.  Very good at this level.

You are assuming that footballers movefor football reasons and not pay/security/.

I'm not saying the club is wrong to have a wage strucrure -quite the opposite. I'd be suprised if we aren't on the lower side when it comes to pay scales. That said we did get Will Wright and Harry Smith.

There must be a large element of adding a promotion to your CV and also all the added incentivised bonusses for promotion, not to mention the higher exposure in being at a successful club, especially if you have a good cup run thats televised.

Yeah agreed financial security is massive, especially at this level. However if your looking for somewhere to develop your career and be in a promotion chasing side I can’t see there being many other better options this summer in League 2. You’d like to think Prem/Champ clubs would be thinking the same when sending their players out on loan in L2.

On that list of Bradford releases, Sam Stubbs, CB, was on loan at Cheltenham last season, their POTS and made it into Who Scored's L2 team of season.
I know they'd love to resign him but expect others will pay more. Would be a good signing for any L2 club so doubt we'd be up there in payment terms

Back in the day, Phil Smith turned down a contract to learn to become a train driver, such was the salary level for squad players at this level.

That's how it should work.  I'll realign my views when Armeen, Bycroft and McGregor sign on.

I remember taking a NUFC supporting mate to a game at the CG in the late 90's and Fraser Digby drove out of the ground in a battered Vauxhall Astra, which I think was a bit of an eye opener for a PL club supporter...
