Voted for Sobowale as a protest against his stupid substitution.

Dan Barden for the first half save - otherwise we would have lost 1-0

The crisp packet on the pitch.
Maintained a decent shape throughout.

I always like to look at what the (publicly available) stats say, as Kennedy is such a fan, it helps me understand what he might be seeing different to us.

https://www.whoscored.com/Matches/1828058/Live/England-League-Two-2024-2025-Swindon-Harrogate-Town

They have Wright well clear (like, 8.7 is very high in their scoring) and Freckleton... not bad. There's actually some interesting stuff there - Freckleton and Wright had 11.4 and 12.1% of the possession respectively - Sobowale 7%, Cox 6% then everyone else 4% or less. Drinan, Tshimanga and Glatzel have 4% combined.

I think the thing here is that Freckleton absolutely is making mistakes - but that's largely because he's in possession 3-4x more often than anyone else in our team bar Will Wright. The lack of posession our midfielders in particular have is absolutely piss poor - and yes, that's a bit because other teams are happy to let our defence have the ball, but you can still *try* to get the ball to the supposed ball players in midfield.

And to show the stats aren't all bollocks, here's their STFC strengths and weaknesses:

Strengths:
Shooting from direct free kicks
Creating long shot opportunities
Protecting the lead (not that we've done it much)

Weaknesses
Finishing scoring chances
Defending against through ball attacks
Defending against skillful players
Defending set pieces
Aerial duels

How does that ‘defenders have the most possession’ compare to the say Manchester City who happily play a bit of keeper ball and/or will have teams who will sit deep & allow their defenders to have it

Protecting the lead? We've only led twice this season in all competitions. One of those times we lost.
If that's a "strength" then we are even deeper in the shit than we realise.

Sobowale was clearly the best player on the park for us, with a 6/10
performance. Kennedy seemed to suggest in one interview that Sobowale was struggling, so needed to come off. But in the other interview, he suggested that the sub was tactical as Longelo is a better crosser.

Wright tried, but was much better in the first half than second.

Freckleton passing is poor. The best pass is one that plays to the receiver’s strength and goes where they want it. Freckleton seems to me not to be able to read that or not able understand/do it. Having said that, the midfield wasn’t looking for the ball. So the only pass he had on most of the time was to Wright.

Not sure.

Never mind the stats, holding Man City to 0-0 yesterday was a season's highlight.

Can we have this as a voting option please?

The club shop sign gets my vote following a much improved performance after a very poor start to the season.

A mention for the breasts and crisp packet as well. Sign 'em up.

That is brilliant!

I'm surprised there wasn't more attention to the action. The town end was pretty empty and the match pretty boring

There's a joke about being the only fans left in the TE but I can't quite put it together.
