Title: FGR away Post by: aroundthefur on Sunday, August 13, 2023, 20:24:37 Does anyone know the likely away pub?
In 2019/20 I’m pretty sure it was the Wetherspoon’s in the middle of Stroud. Title: Re: FGR away Post by: Ƭ̵̬̊: The Artist Formerly Known as CWIG on Sunday, August 13, 2023, 20:37:33 Any pub in stroud basically. Fuck all near the ground.

Been away on holidays and forgot to look at the appropriate time. Would appreciate any news of spares going. Title: Re: FGR away Post by: swindon74 on Sunday, August 13, 2023, 21:25:59 Likewise, if anyone knows of a spare ticket going :)

Title: Re: FGR away Post by: aroundthefur on Monday, August 14, 2023, 07:27:25 The last bus back to Stroud is at 20.46? Or am I missing something?
Title: Re: FGR away Post by: Wormholes of Time on Monday, August 14, 2023, 07:36:49 If Reg were still with us then we'd be going to the George at Newmarket (take road out of Nailsworth for a short distance and park as soon as you can then it's a short walk to the pub). From the pubs: it's a delightful 15-20 minute walk to the ground along a footpath to the ground. The pub is a jewel. Best keep it to ourselves, as it were. I'll be wearing a red shirt with a GRW 'Made in Swindon' motif and I've short grey hair and bespectacled if anyone wants to meet and chat and have a footpath guide.
Yes: the buses back aren't great. It's a four mile walk back to Stroud along the old Nailsworth branch line after descending the hill, I'm afraid. Title: Re: FGR away Post by: Audrey on Monday, August 14, 2023, 07:48:27 Should be easy enough to get tickets for home areas.

They were a bit 'got to be on the database' the first time we went. Title: Re: FGR away Post by: Robinz on Monday, August 14, 2023, 09:35:41 Hi Guys,
Missed out on SAS Supporters coach... Does anyone have a spare seat going there ? Wantage Witney Bampton area meet up would be excellent. Title: Re: FGR away Post by: DMC on Monday, August 14, 2023, 10:31:35 Anyone done the train for this, how easy is it?
Title: Re: FGR away Post by: Audrey on Monday, August 14, 2023, 10:40:03 Sounds like no Wakeling or RHM
Title: Re: FGR away Post by: Hyabb17 on Monday, August 14, 2023, 10:46:21 Anyone done the train for this, how easy is it? Have before but that was a Saturday so more options getting back to Stroud. Could you not book a cab back near the stadium in advance to be sure? That's an option which I will explore Title: Re: FGR away Post by: Batch on Monday, August 14, 2023, 11:01:09 Quote from: The Artist Formerly Known as Audrey Sounds like no Wakeling or RHM yeah, and with Charlie's legs we might be a bit light up front Adver did pooh-pooh the RHM to Posh rumour though Title: Re: FGR away Post by: Audrey on Monday, August 14, 2023, 11:08:34 Give Kanu a go - off the bench at least.
Title: Re: FGR away Post by: Nomoreheroes on Monday, August 14, 2023, 11:32:56 I suspect it will be Young up top on his own and Kinsella starting.
Title: Re: FGR away Post by: Wormholes of Time on Monday, August 14, 2023, 19:23:07 Just checked the George at Newmarket, Nailsworth, and it's not open on Tuesdays. They have a bar for away fans at the ground before entry if people want to get the journey over and done with. The Ale House in Stroud has an array of beers. The Lord John near the station is cheapest. Buses to Forest Green from near the cinema not far from the station. There are two or three pubs in Nailsworth at the bottom of the steep hill up to the ground (Egypt Mill; the Village(?); the Britannia). I've checked Egypt Mill's website and it says it's open on Tuesdays. Dunno about the others.
