Total minutes given to players aged 23-years-old or younger in League Two this season.

…in fairness, that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Would all of them have been our own players as well?
A lot of whom will be here next season.

Obviously it’s not an exact science but a proven manager at this level, who knows this level with a years experience under their belts - there is probably a chance that some of youngsters kick on next season.

Also a chance they might not - naturally but I think I’d rather have youngsters in their second year here rather than a 95% turnover of players and another completely new squad.

The debate about what we actually need has been done to death - so I won’t regurgitate it here.

That table shows a mix of successful clubs towards the top and also toward the bottom. It’s no magic bullet that’s for sure.

Logic dictates that young players that show potential generally improve with experience.

I don't think anyone disagrees with having young players to develop and flog.

You just can't have all young players that will hopefully get better. Which is where we ended.

Only Northampton got any success with a very young squad on that list

Not all, a fairly large chunk (20% or so?) of that will have been Brynn, with smaller contributions from Brennan, Kadji, Jephcott. But far more than last year for sure. Wakeling got a lot of minutes, Hutton may be included depending on when they counted from. Also Clayton, Lavinier, Minturn, McEachran, Darcy, Cain, Shade. Lots of prospects on the books.

Completely forgot about Brynn. Just thought about the outfield players.

Genuinely surprised Jephcott is only 23. How long he seems to have been around plus how he looks and plays id have had him down as 27ish.

…in fairness, that’s not necessarily a bad thing.
It was last year ;)
=======================

To my eyes:

Hutton, Clayton, Lavinier, Wakeling definitely around first team next year
---
RHM, MchEchran, Cain possibly in squad*
---
Darcy, Roberts, Shade not bothered.
--
Minurrn, Dworzak to be nurtured
---
Can he stay fit : Devine

This is the problem, because they can all make a case but if you add them all you are suddenly 7 players from this season deep. Not sure 4 extras does enough to get us up.

Also top of the league for points dropped from 80 minutes onward?
