Title: Swindon v Barrow MoM Thread
Post by: Nemo on Saturday, April 15, 2023, 15:57:42
That wasn't bad. It wasn't *good*, but it wasn't bad.

Who gets your vote?

Any of the defenders or Williams would be reasonable votes in my book. I'll give it to FBT as I think he contributed the most going forward of the four defenders.

Brewitt by a country mile.

Williams lively.

Clayton with only 1 mistake made a welcome comeback.

would like brewitt to be a success because he makes all the right noises off the pitch and seems to put in the effort on it. but if you watch him live and in person it should be clear that he isnt a long term solution at CB

Brewitt should be no more than a squad player.  He's not shit but you won't win the league with him at centre half.

Barrow didn’t offer much threat, but when they did, Brewitt anticipated and made some crunching tackles. He also looks assured on the ball. I like him. Not sure he is that great in the air. Talking of which, I thought the giant Welsh CB that they brought on did very well too! Wonder what they would be like together?

I think that's a fair assumption based on the little ive seen of him but for me still in upgrade on Cian Harries.

Actually thought Hutton looked more up for this game than any in recent memory? Tentative MOM, although the defence, as a whole, was much improved.

today I thought he won almost everything in the air. That's a big part of the reason I gave him motm.

Not seen that much of him in other games for one reason or another

Nobody needs me to statistically prove that we've been shit recently, but I thought it was interesting how a lot of players that racked up a lot of votes in the first part of this season have dropped off significantly in our recent run.

Here are a few people who are right up there for the season and the last time they got 10 or more votes in a MoM vote:

Sol Brynn - Colchester Away, New Year's Day (18 games ago)
Tom Clayton - Bradford Away, 25th October (13 games he appeared in ago)
Remeao Hutton - Crewe Home, 19th November (22 games ago - although caveat he did get MoM last game, just with 7 votes!)
Jonny Williams - Doncaster Home, 11th February (11 games ago)
Saidou Khan - Grimsby Home, 14th January (9 games ago - he missed a bunch due to suspension)
Jacob Wakeling - Salford Away, 18th February (10 games ago)

Since our last win (9 games) the top three vote winners are RHM (66), McEachran (52) and Brewitt (51), all of whom are relatively recent joiners (or in RHM's case, regulars). Austin also has 46 but 98% of that was one game.

That would suggest the newer guys are pulling their weight, but the existing squad has dropped right off.

I can’t possibly think what the common denominator is between players all dropping off recently….

I didn't realise getting up so early on a Sunday morning to play the same record was such a hobby  ;)

Getting up early is easy when you have young kids.

Even easier when there's been no sleep and you're actually still awake. But that's where the delirium comes in. The same repeating the same things and...  ;)

No need to tell me.
Being up all night is my specialty
