Went with Artell but Foster probably the second best looking appointment, in my opinion.

All Blacks Rugby Union coach, and apparently also (presumably separately) the England U20 coach.

From what I have read, Artell and Morison have the same philosophy, which seems to be the same that Gunning talked about yesterday.

Gunning said he didn’t want it. So no point him being on the list.

Haven’t read up on Foster.

I don’t personally want any of the others as I don’t see them as the right appointments

I'd choose Danny Cowley but of the names on the list I'd select David Artell.

I have gone for Artell. I wouldn't even mind him just for the rest of the season and then revaluate in the summer

Artell seems a no brainer to me. I am surprised why so many seem put off by him. Is it because he's a bit of a cunt? I couldn't care less really as long as we win games.

He got Crewe out of league 2 playing a good brand of football, without a huge budget and used young players.

I actually believe, had the season not been cut short by covid, Crewe would've actually won the title ahead of us.

Although, as in other thread, being able to work well with Austin is probably the most important element for the next 6 months.

Artell for me. His analytical background with Crewe fits in with the club’s ethos. There’s not many “unemployed” managers with that background readily available at the moment. Too many of his developed players were sold on too quickly and when it backfired he was the inevitable scapegoat. 

Which players did he sell on out of interest?

Perry Ng and Harry Pickering were the big two.

Going by what my Cardiff mates have told me I would go with Morison, but 2nd choice would be Artell.

A lot of them were sad to see him go, weren’t they?

Yes 2 of my best mates are season ticket holders at Cardiff and were upset he left. He did split the fan base but its rare that a manager is sacked and still has the backing of 50% of the fanbase, usually those wanting rid far outweigh those who want to keep them.

I think you can add Owen Dale to the three names given above. All four were sold on for good fees during Artell’s tenure. I hadn’t realised Artell had been at Crewe for so long. He joined in Jan 2017 and left in April 2022 with a win % of 36.50.

Head was turned by Morison but sticking with Artell.

Would love Hughton but don't think it's a realistic option so gone for Artell. Would be happy with Morison, and to a lesser extent, Foster.

Pretty much my thoughts too. Don't know enough about Foster to form an educated guess though, no idea about style or how he manages but he seems to firt the bill.

 Hughton the easy pick. None of the others appeal at all.

I think Hughton would have been a great disappointment. I hope Artell gets the job.

We'll see I suppose. Big appointment this. Need to get promoted. You can't be getting gates like we do, get a player like Austin back and not go up. To be fair Artell has done that.

I never voted for Artell but looking at the other candidates I would be satisfied for certain, taken time to evaluate things and I am sure he will do well for us if he is indeed appointed, at least he has some history in management, and not just a total 1 season failure like Garner was prioer to joining us or a total newbie to league management like Lindsey.
