Title: Barrow v Swindon MoM Thread
Post by: Nemo on Saturday, December 17, 2022, 16:32:26
A win! Much the better team until the rain came, gritty and nervy after but it's three points and somehow - somehow - we are fourth in the table.

If last week was a lot of 6s across the side, today was a lot of 6.5s and 7s. No real standouts good or bad for me (from the starting XI at least), but I'll give it to Wakeling who did a terrific job as a lone striker and holding the ball up, including winning a few beautiful flick ons against towering centre backs.

Laviner impressed me a lot today. Reed good first half but didn't have the same time in the second half.

Lavinier for me, especially playing out of his normal right sided position at left back..

I opted for Lavinier. Overall play from home very good. Defensively solid, good on the ball and had a good effort from distance which forced their keeper into a good diving save.

wakeling for me, won us the match with his movement for the penalty. a strike partner would have absolutely loved playing with him today, the flick ons and through balls he created were brilliant and it was a shame that more goals didn't come of them.

especially those 2 second half chances he gave to darcy.

austin and wakeling. lets go

Leviner. Was decent going forwards in the first half and solid defensively in the second.

Lavinier for me also.

Felt that Lavinier's obvious class hasn't quite been matched by his performances - consistently through the 90.

Great to see him hitting his stride in a game of two halves with contrasting demands.

Can we fit 2 RWBs into the side on a long term basis?

Depends on formation I think.

If we played a flat 442 could we try one in front of the other? I think it would be worth trying. Same if we ever went to a 4231. Even a 433 you could try one as the wide right striker.

It’s a massive shame one of them isn’t left footed…

Yeah, Marcel with the big shorts for me as well.
Very ably demonstrated an all round game.
Looks comfortable on the left so no reason why him and Hutton can't play in the same team.
I suspect that the club will be looking to extend his stay before too long.

Do you have any idea on the length of his contract? It wasn't announced, but it sounds like you might think it's EOS?

No idea, but was thinking worst case which would be one year with no option.
I'm guessing that there is an option for a second year.

I think Lindsey mentioned that the club were in discussion with certain players so hopefully he is one of them.

The whole team played well, but I voted for Shade. He showed strength, speed,  cleverness in close passing, kept possession well, and had a great shot which was well saved. I think he has great potential, and hope he can be more consistent and score a few goals.

Yes Shade had a very decent game - one of the few who's not afraid to take a shot

For me that was probably Shades best game for us.
