Title: Swindon v Hartlepool MoM Thread
Post by: Nemo on Saturday, October 22, 2022, 15:36:38
I only saw the last half an hour or so, but it sounds like another not fully convincing win - but one word in that sentence matters a lot more than all the others.

Difficult one. Only 2 bits of quality in the entire game. Crosses from Gladwin and Hutton.

I thought Khan was below par in the first half. Although he got lots of touches, they were mostly across the back 4. He got in more dangerous areas in the second, but lacked quality to finish.

Williams had a good second half. But was a bit hit or miss in the first.

Gladwin with one of the 2 bits of quality, but went missing for long periods

Hutton put in a few decent crosses besides. Bad foul for the yellow and not the best defending, but probably deserves the vote today.

But, don't think anyone seized the game by the scruff of the neck, which is disappointing.

Gladwin for me - his cross (1st) and pass to Hutton (2nd) were the  key to both goals and many of our better moments came from his passing.
Other strong performances- Hutton, Khan, Williams and Blake-Tracey.
Apart from his error for the goal Baudry was good too.

The votes being spread around indicates a decent team effort with no real stand out performer, which it was and that's good.
Still plenty of room for improvement and that is also good.

I'll go for FBT for the great piece of skill to break into space in the 2nd half.
Him and Iandolo could work as a decent combo down the left as the season develops.
Noticed that they covered for each other well when one was caught upfield.

Again I am probably in the minority but I though Gladwin dictated play well on Saturday, some excellent balls out to the wide areas. Not 100% of the time but his passing ability does open up the spaces out on the wings. Hutton and FBT also get credit for good performances, both are starting to put consistent form together game after game. Hopefully they can keep it up for the tougher assignments this week.
