Title: Gillingham Tickets available
Post by: TheDukeOfBanbury on Thursday, August 18, 2022, 16:27:58
That is if anyone is interested.
Purchased from Gillingham directly - all straightforward and no restrictions for anyone.

Gone are the days when this fixture was spicy. Been to some hell on games ever since it all kicked off in those late 70’s epics.

It's still a shithole but that's better than a spicy shithole

Probably still get a few gifts thrown over the away end from the street behind.

The Friday evening play off game!

My all time favourite was the 3-1 Win in the league at the CG when the “long distance hatred” was cemented. The TE atmosphere was absolutely electric.
Sadly missed out to Watford, Swansea and Shrewsbury (if memory serves me correctly) that season.

Best era following Swindon purely down to the atmosphere and excitement.

The Jills game was a great atmosphere, I never missed a home game that season as a 12 year old, what a time to be a fan so many great high, the Watford game was the one shown on Match of the Day wasnt it? the 2-0 win when Rowland scored the goal of the month from a Trollope cross on the right, almost a scissor kick in the box after dropping his shoulder and volleying it.

Swansea brought more fans than any other team that season and filled the bank.

Great memories.

Went to them all but Swansea away on the Boxing Day when we won 2-1 is my fondest memory along with Arsenal away.

Got spat on by a Jills fan on my last visit their when we won promotion under Paolo. Got a Gillingham supporting mate who tells me we are still their most hated club  :Ride On Fatbury's Lovestick: hope we take a good number down there. A couple of wins before will help, COYR

All those games you mention remember fondly.
Coming off the train from Didcot eventful and lively.

Swansea particularly a Swindon welcome party of a few hundred all around the bus station.
Unfortunately Swansea won that home game 1-0 and as you say were well supported.
The TE in those days simply unreal and loud.
