Title: Goal of the season
Post by: Jimmy HaveHave on Thursday, April 28, 2022, 08:42:38
Not as easy as you think. I'll go for Williams v Hartlepool for the superb build up play.

I went Williams v Port Vale. The build up play wasn't as long but was sharper and cleverer. Hard to choose, although I feel the McKirdy goal wouldn't have even been considered had it been scored against Stevenage.

Some good goals in there, and there are a few more that feel unlucky to be left out. The Hartlepool one is the most representative of the style of play I guess, but think I like the Port Vale one more.

For me the Gladwin goal is probably the best, pass and move and the finish, excellent.

But there are some great team goals and 2 nice longer distance ones from Reed and Williams.

A nice selection that.

I enjoyed watching that.  Difficult choice, but I would go for Barry against Walsall - the Reed tackle to start it off and and the finish was superb.  Love Reedy, will miss him if he goes.

Louis Barry's goal on Tuesday could have got a nomination too to be fair, beautiful play from back to front.

Yep, I voted for the Gladwin strike, but I think I’d have gone for Tuesday’s opener if it had been on offer.

Be ironic if Ben’s only major contribution to the season won the prize.

McKirdy's against Man City was the one I enjoyed the most. William's v Sutton the most spectacular, Barrie v Warsaw best all round.

He scored a decent goal at Scunny on the opening day.

Some cracking goals and enjoyed watching every one of them at the respective games.

The Port Vale goal never realised the amount of possession before the goal.

Can only hope he stays as so influential.
Talk to his parents quite a lot and hopefully will see them both Saturday.
Lovely people.

Some good ones there, but also a few that show the glaring problem with our style. How many involved 30 odd seconds of pissing around with the ball in our half whilst the oppo striker runs back and forth but doesn't actually need to bother pressurising, whilst behind him the team set up 10 players ready to defend when it finally comes forward. When it works it works, but at our level the players with the ability to play the quick killer ball which the style needs are really lacking.

What happened to the rumours that both Reed and Williams had signed new deals but they hadn’t been announced?

All great goals. Barry v Walsall is a cracker. The first goal on Tuesday could have been in there for the Baudry and then Payne passes.

It's telling when they've used the analysis video to be able to show the full pass count, rather than the official highlights which no doubt cuts out most of the fannying about.

:D

I have actually watched a few games this season. When we're good, we're electric. I Just find passing for passings sake very dull.

Ben Gladwin v Scunthorpe, great goal just what we needed

As others have said, some good ones there.
I like the Williams one v Hartlepool.
By way of contrast, of those not in the video, , I also really liked Davison’s against Sutton at home (from Wolacott’s kick out, and Davison ran from our area to get on the end of it).
