Title: BMW 125d
Post by: 4D on Thursday, March 10, 2022, 19:00:25
Anyone got one? What are they like to own? Enough grunt (although I'd probably remap it)?

Ta.

I had a 118d as a company car for about 6 months, fun to drive (as long as it wasn't really wet and icey) and even that had enough grunt to make points difficult to avoid, downside feck all space inside and it buggered my back up.

Sent from my SM-A125F

Also had a 118d. It was actually a 2L turbo and pretty quick. Why diesel though? They've got longevity but are noisy, expensive to fill, and the most expensive to tax I think.

It was front wheel drive so, as horlock says, poor in very cold weather. There was heavy snow about 10 years ago that turned to ice and stayed for ages. Everyone else was out driving after a day or two but the 1 series was all over the shop and I couldn't drive it for a week. Doesn't happen often though.

I have a 2.0 petrol TT mapped at 271bhp, it's a front wheel drive and mapped using 99 Ron premium. Mine does around 36mpg . The 125d is a rear wheel drive, one thing I fancy trying. Remapped I'll get it to 270bhp, it's £130 a year to tax compared to the £210 for mine. The 125d should be good for 50mpg too.

I trust that any mods have been disclosed to your insurers

How much does Mapping cost?

I was going to ask if the mapping is done by BMW dealers but I think you've just answered the question!

You have an Audi TT and now you want a 1 series?

Are you a hairdresser?

I use a specialist insurer, dealing with modified cars.
Mapping is about £345 for my car. 208 bhp to 271 bhp, and 350nm to 407nm of torque. Yes, you notice the difference  :toocool:
