Title: Mythical Origins of Thetownend.com
Post by: DiV on Wednesday, January 26, 2022, 09:52:29
I think someone needs to start a 'Mythical Origins of Thetownend.com' thread and get an abusive mod to pin it, it might save this conversation happening every six months or so.

Dazzza started it in late Nov/early Dec 2004, with the first version lasting only a few days(all those posts are gone). The change that caused the reset was possibly when Dazzza handed the reigns to Whits? Barry took over later.

There was another version that lasted a while as well, wasn't there?

The TUMDFC Interregnum?

Whits got threatened by someone at the club to report the site for all the file sharing that used to go on back then, IIRC. Who was the bloke who was pro-board who used to deliberately try to antagonise people it seemed? Maverick?

I think dalumpimunki used to be NewsMonkey, Mex. Hope that helps.

Funny how these people disappear when the board does. Same with a lot of the so called Pro Power 'Swindon fans' that have recently evaporated recently.

No, the eponymous man's family had infiltrated the site and didn't like what they'd read about him.

I still maintain he's a complete and utter cunt.

Orange hats anyone?

We’ve still got ours, my son wore one to the Man City game.

I’ve also still got a couple of the Tea Cosy hats from the 80s

I think I joined when I moved to Ireland - maybe 2003ish. My name changes since have muddied the waters somewhat!

Remember looking in on thisis  but don’t  think I joined.

Anyone remember the original thisis message board? That was an eyesore looking back. Not even a proper forum really.

If you're at a loose end and feeling nostalgic, there's a few scrapes on the old Wayback Machine.

Orange hats anyone?

Unbelievable times trying to overthrow Diamond Mike.
Infiltrating behind the lines with Swindon personal, and someone who will remain nameless.

Unbelievable what went on.

Surely no other football club in all 4 divisions could say they have experienced anything like STFC.
From the highs to the absolute lows between early1960s to even todays happenings.
STFC rulz OK and thank you for making life interesting😎

That is the first proper forum they had. They had this weird singular messageboard before that. Was fucking dog shit to navigate.

Give it to the end of the season, Oldham may disagree with you then.

Was that the myonly site where each new message appeared beneath the previous in one massive mess on the home page?

That's the one I'm thinking of. Absolute mess of a website. Oh the early 2000's.
