Have been allocated 2500 tickets for the game on the 22nd Jan.

Hopefully just the bank.

interesting

thought we had to provide cover for League games.

maybe they will split Arkells/bank in initial load, then open more of the bank when needed

Should just put a bit of plastic sheeting over a couple of rows at the back of the bank to fulfil any covered seating requirements.

Great money spinner and will make opening up the Stratton Bank for Man City tonight more  cost effective. Also makes Rovers look like a vindictive tin pot club with our paltry allocation earlier in the season.

Should have given them the same as they gave us,  wankers.
S’pose looking at the bright side,  take their money and show them how football should be played.

They’re a queer bunch, for sure. They’re obsessed with former players and managers. God knows why.

They seem to have an inordinate number of both who have done well after leaving them.

My thoughts exactly and seem obsessed with Garner and for some reason they seem to think we're a vile club.

I enjoyed your post on the Bluemoon forum assuming it was you😀

I am surprised they have so much bad feeling towards us. I couldn't give a shit about Rovers and don't really see them as a derby.

As for managers I would sooner have Garner managing my club than Barton. How is Pitman doing for them?

I think we have to give them so many tickets undercover in the league. I would give them 100-200 no more with the rest on the bank

Are the tickets on sale yet?
I've tried to buy, but they're not showing as on sale.
It's a nightmare trying to buy since I bought 6 match bundles, it doesn't recognise any of my accounts anymore. I have to go through the club, however a change of job, weekends all free, means season tickets from now on I think, to save the hassle.

Title: Re: Bristol Rovers

As much as I would like to replicate what they did to us and give them a pathetic amount of tickets it’s extremely rare to get any form of away crowd these days so will make for a good atmosphere I’m sure.

The sooner we get a roof on the bank and return The Arkells entirely for home fans the better.

After a new/redeveloped Stratton Bank, I'd imagine a new Town End would be on the shopping list. Hopefully we can give home fans the new roofed bank without the need for giving up even more Akrells seats in the interim.

Probably a long timeline on all of this though.

something to consider is the loss of seats in the DR to corporate boxes. Where are all those displaced fans going to sit? Or a more pertinent question is what rows will be effected from row Z downwards?

Title: Re: Bristol Rovers

Rob A has confirmed Rovers have been given the Arkells due to the rule around needing to give some cover. That rule doesn’t apply for the FA Cup - hence Man City only getting the Bank.

Not only this but you could lose some capacity in a new Stratton Bank too as going by previous planning permission, a roof can only be as high as the flag posts currently are.

You could make up the lost seats with a vastly bigger new Town End though.

on the OSC Monday night panel RA did say tickets would be on sale soon, although he didn't specify when. The delay is probably down to getting everything ready for the City game. I am sure it was "all hands on deck" for that and there wasn't the space/time to get the Rovers tickets up as well.

Checked tickets expecting to see loads left as still a week away. Surprised to see they've opened up the Arkells block near The Town End already. Didn't expect that.

I would say 11,000+ probable if they've sold 2,000 already as they'll probably sell all 2,500 or at least be close. I reckon around 12k for this.

Rain? Fuck offfffff. -5 with a swirling S Westerly hitting a biting N Easterly resulting in torrential rain and hail on the Stratton bank only. Followed by freezing fog and ice west bound on the M4. Everywhere else a balmy14 degrees Celsius and weak winter sun.

We haven’t got a bad run of games coming up - on paper, anyway.

It’ll be important to get a win v Rovers to build on yesterday’s fantastic performance and to see if we have, indeed, sorted out our home form.

Not sure if I’m kidding myself but I think I detect a change in the ‘style’ lately. Less of the ponderous passing at the back, a more willingness to hit it long now and again. A few new bodies, Payne and JoJo back and we should be good to go.

Not sure if yesterday is a watershed game as Vale let us control the game from start to finish. Don’t think many teams will be so generous.

I still think it’s a coin toss as to whether we make the POs or not.

Don't we have pitch blankets or similar? Could always get the rovers fans to turn up early and put some hot air on the pitch.

pitch covers are usually fine down to this temp, assuming power didn't sell them/get them repossessed.

looks like it's the Thursday night into Friday that's the issue. it's chilly Friday daytime but hopefully above ground frost levels...

tldr: think we'll be fine

What does tldr mean? I hope we will be fine too. I am bringing 2 friends to their first game and one to his second.

Judging by the ticket site and the fact rovers have pretty much sold theirs, we're at about 11.5k. Be 13k by Saturday.

Any way of finding out how many we've sold to date? Wonder if any of the 'extra' Man City attendees decide to return.  :hmmm:

Looking at the ticket site, we've already sold more than most league games this season. With Rovers bringing 2.5k, I'd guess at around 12k so far, so hopefully we'll get over 13k by Friday night. I guess we'll find out on Saturday  :)

Yeah it’s looking like it will be a very healthy attendance. I would expect around 12.5 to 13k.

Heard no matchday sales though. That'll hurt things slightly. Not been very well communicated.

I see we’ve given Rovers another 300 tickets, that’ll take them up to approx 2800 if they sell them all.

Nice of the Gasheads to help knock another c£50,000 off our debts.

Hopefully Exeter will also bring a good number in a few weeks.

Onwards and upwards!

Buzzing for this, should be circa 13k in attendance, will certainly be a tougher test that the reverse fixture. No idea if Payne is back in contention?

I wouldn't bank on it, they have averaged well under 500 on their travels so far this season, I expect they won't even sell out the Arkells seats, they made a huge thing about the last game when they brought around 2,000, they haven't done so this time....yet..

I was surprised when they brought 2000 a couple of seasons ago as historically it's only ever been a few hundred.

Ahead of this Saturday's match between @Official_STFC and @Official_BRFC, we are advising local residents and supporters that we will be closing Shrivenham Road between 10am and 3pm for crowd safety reasons.

Did the same for the City game didn't they? I imagine a lot of the protocols practised for that game will be used here again due to the size of the crowd (and potential for bother from the nawty boys)

It's going to be windy on the bank after drinking Arkells for a couple of hours before the game.

Should mean being able to enjoy a couple of pints beforehand elsewhere without risk of infestation.

They tried this for Man City and got blow back from residents, surprised they're trying it again. How can you stop people accessing their house by car for 5 and a half hours!?

Surely residents can get in and out at the opposite end of Shrivenham Road - come out at Greenbridge.

Or are plod blocking both ends?

That part of Shrivenham Road has only been accessed from the magic roundabout for about 30 years since Tesco was built.

Being told similar to City, they'll let residents through. Just not communicating that the public. They did try to close it full stop for Man City and it didn't go down well at all.

Its one way or persuading residents to sell their houses at bottom dollar if someone was thinking about building a bloody great big football stand!  ;)
