Any game in the FA Cup for us is loseable, look at when we drew Darlington or Woking at home. Definitely 'winnable' until the games actually take place and we end up getting our arses handed to us.

Given how the respective clubs seasons are going, this is a winnable tie.

Brown and Flitcroft are the only 2 managers, who both won a single FA cup tie in charge, since PdC in 2011, Brown being the last manager to win a 1st round tie in November 2018!

Full time managers Cooper, Ling, MacDonald, Williams, Wellens and Sheridan all didn't win a single FA cup tie with us.

Just unreal that our away allocations are being cut significantly. If that is due to a few coked up twats then that is ridiculous and needs resolving.

Got my 3 tickets. I seem to remember there being a rule that we had to be offered an allocation of something like 15% of the grounds capacity for FA cup? Did I make that up? I suppose any police rules would trump that though…

Clubs can allocate up to 15% of capacity to away fans. Not sure they have to and I assume it's agreed between the 2 clubs hence the delay for our tickets being on sale. I know there have been issues recently with Arsenal only giving teams (Spurs, Liverpool and Man City) about 5,000 tickets in the FA Cup, whereas when they played Lincoln they allocated 9,000.

Cooper, Williams and Wellens are the only ones in that list who will have managed an FA Cup game, no??

I have seen some people already moaning about the allocation without giving any thought to the fact that it may be an initial allocation, or that the club have requested this many. You have to wonder whether there are enough brain cells to go around these days

Football fans have to moan about something. Its an unwritten rule.

And we seem to have an inordinate amount of moaners anyway as fans.

What are the rules re allocations, Holker Street only holds 5,400 so even that is 12% of the total capacity.

EFL rules are that 10% in the minimum allocation givent o away supporters of the total capacity, they can offer more if they are able to but not less.

Official figure for this season is 5,045 capacity.

Town have been allocated a total of 646 tickets in the Away End - including 112 seats and 534 terracing.

In some fans’ eyes it’s almost like we’ve become Leeds United overnight with regards to away followings.

1500 should be ample - as a comparison, Newport made it to general sale which was a far smaller allocation and is also closer to Swindon. Then again, maybe all those anti vaxxers boycotting made the difference ;)

Yes, Newport is closer to Swindon. But Walsall is closer to the hundreds of Town fans like me who are dotted around the country so I'm not sure that copmarison holds up as strongly as one might think. That said, you're right in thinking we don't normally take 1500 and as such, people's reactions are a little unwarranted. Previous highs have been 1204 in 2014, 962 in 2012 and 913 in 2017.

Will be interesting to see the uptake for this but I'm expecting those 1500 to sell out based on the feel good factor and the chance of getting through to R3.

We have taken over 1,000 to Walsall on 3 occassions (913, 297, 1,072, 1,204, 422, 962, 853, 735, 622, 781, 1,075) in the last 11 meetings there, on 3 other occassions we have had around 900+. Under PdC (possibly a comparable feel good season) we took 962 there with the highest in recent years being 1,204.

Away at Stevenage we took 1,005 in our previous visits we have taken on average 300, under PdC we took 926.

Scunthorpe away we took 850, the previous 3 visits we barely broke 300.

Northampton away we took 962 (limited ticket sell out), 50% of recent times we sell out our usual 1,300+ allocation there and would have done this year too given the chance.

Bristol Rovers away we sold out our entire allocation of 705 but normally would take double that amount given the allocation.

When we play Oldham away we have had at most 320 away fans with as few as 170 for the last 4 away ties there, this season we took 635 so double the normal plus extra.

At Crewe we took 735, in the last 4 visits we have averaged 300 away fans and our previous highest was just 500 for the tie there.

I think its very feasible that we will sell our entire allocation witht he good away form and feel good factor currently at the club.

Thanks PV…so on those recent Walsall followings it would be some achievement to sell out the 1500 but certainly not impossible given the uplifts we’ve seen on historic followings this season.

Hopefully we can pack it out and get ourselves in the hat for round three.

I've been up there a few times and I've felt they underdeclared the town fans by quite a bit.

Absolutely, I think we have a great chance of selling out but if you base it solely on games at Walsall recently then we may well struggle but looking at this seasons bigger picture I would be surprised if we weren't within 50 or so of selling out.

The Brum smallpox outbreak was in 1978 so I am guessing it was the 4-1 defeat there on 9th September 1978.

That's the one I thought it was slightly earlier but remember the score and Town fans getting chucked out for taunting Wallsall fans with smallpox chants

I managed to buy 3 over the phone because it would only let me buy 1 online even though I have 3, 6 match bundle tickets. I have since been online and managed to buy another but yes will only let me buy 1 more each time I log in, perhaps that is the way you need to go about it. My 3 tickets have already arrived and there are seat numbers on I thought it was a case of sit where you want as I've got a 4th on the way.

In some ways I wish every game was unallocated seating, but it just doesn't work when it's a sell out. Clubs like Crewe do it right - give everyone an allocated seat then tell people they can sit where they like if feasible.

If people were sensible, unallocated seating would work just fine - you just have to accept you may end up split from people you wanted to be with.  People are far too selfish to make it work though, plus, the authorities love allocated seating as it helps them identify trouble, which they are primed to expect and manage in football.
