Title: Northampton (a)
Post by: stfcjack on Sunday, September 12, 2021, 21:14:47
Does anyone know what the crack is with Northampton tickets? They seem to be unavailable to buy however I’ve seen nothing online to suggest we’ve sold out?

initial allocation sold out, more coming this week in side stand.

We have sold out the initial allocation of 900 although Northampton can give us 400 more seats, at the moment they have not said they will send us them.

If demand is enough then surely they will be stupid not to give us more? more money in their pockets after all, otherwise Town fans will end up in the home end as has happened previously there.

Normally they do give us the extra though.

Club have confirmed no more tickets will be made available, shocking from Northampton really. Perhaps some of the antics at the Stevenage game had a bearing on why they haven’t given us part of the side stand as they normally would. Oh well looks like the home end now.

If that is true then they're just creating a bigger problem. Maybe Northampton and Stevenage can get together and write a book on how to add fuel to the fire managing crowds.

If I remember rightly, i’m pretty sure last time we were at Northampton there was trouble with a steward who was then removed - similar to Stevenage.

Yeah I believe you are correct, but as mentioned above I believe this will only create more problems.

yeah. Forest. Went with a Forest mate one boxing Day.

We were so bad that the Forest fans twigged and showed me sympathy when they scored their second or third.

Yes. It was a common thing back in the days before crowd segregation.

If people can avoid acting like twats there will be no trouble.

Very stupidly, Millwall in a league cup game, one summer's day in the mid 70's. I think we won with a penalty but it was very much hands in pockets all afternoon.

We played Derby in a game to decide who got into the play-off in 1992. Was at the Derby end with a one of their supporters and we lost 3-1. Did go up for our goal and was the only one in the stand who did. No problems though, apart from the result.

Used to do it quite a lot in the 70's as the view from the Paddock was better and the home supporters were usually friendly. Watford was great fun.

Twerton in the 90's where we won. Didn't say much that day but there was a fist pump in the coat when we scored. Thinking back to the Premier League season, both Arsenal and Tottenham (both seated) and West Ham in the League Cup when Chris Guthrie scored, I think.

The last thing on my mind was trouble and there never was any. Fans are fans, for the most part. Why do I remember all this shit but cant recall what I did yesterday.

Newport when we lost under Wellens. Kept my head down and all ok, had thought of an alibi if I was outed! Think Town fans ended up fighting each other anyway so safer where I was :-)

Man City in Prem when we got skanked with the disallowed header, sat in family stand at Maine Road with my mum as a teenager and no one seemed to care. Local youth asking for protection money for the car as we parked up. Mum told them to do one :-)

Tottenham in the Premier League; and Luton in the Simod Cup semi in 88.

Enjoyed reading all your responses, sounds like it’s a lot harder to do these days with having to give addresses etc.

Long shot but if anyone does know of 3 tickets going spare we’d be happy to take them :D

Arsenal (Clock End), Chelsea (Shed), Sheffield Wednesday (lower Leppings Lane) during Prem season. Couldn’t help but celebrate the late equaliser at Hillsborough and inevitably incurred a few grumbles.

I was tempted to go on the Kop at Anfield but eventually decided to go in the away end.

Also Crewe when I went with a Crewe-supporting uni friend.

My Leeds supporting mate jumped all over me when Brian Deane scored his 3 goals because I stood there motionless. Think he was trying to make it look like I was celebrating the goals :D. This was on the terrace in the Gelderd End.

Spurs and West Ham in Prem. Hereford (Div 4?) with a mate. Kept quiet in all cases, no issues. Could probably still do it; even with address, as dont live in or near Swindon.

Went to a Bristol City v Swindon game in the early 90’s in the home end simply because me and a mate were living in digs down there while at college. Town won 4-0 and had couldn’t celebrate any of the goals.

Ha, ha. My ex FIL and I were in one of the old side stands, got a little bit ansty to say the least and he bottled it at 0-2 so we left about five mins or so before the end and we score two more on our way out that we missed. Still at least we never got smashed up which was a possibility it has to be said.

I was exactly the same at that game. The only pleasure was nodding in agreement when they said how shit they were.

Saw an Oxford fan get punched in the arkells when he piped up.

It wasn't easy c.20 years back, the ridiculous reason why we ended up in the home end at Bloomfield Road was because the STFC ticket office would not sell tickets to someone with a Lancashire address!

Sat in away ends on many occasions, Wolves (league cup semi), Leeds, Southampton, Sheff Wed, Reading and Millwall back in the 70s.
Thrown out at Millwall with my mate for our own protection, did take a few smacks.
Got back in with 30 minutes to go, we were losing I think Posse (not sure that is how it is spelt) got a hat-trick.

Oxford a few times, Wolves could have got nasty and recently Wimbledon when noticed a fair few other Swindon fans were near. QPR another.

Wouldn’t have any problem now as most issues are avoidable.

No idea, I saw this posted elsewhere & so went to check & it does confirm that on-line sales have been suspended.

We've already got ours, but did wonder what they would make of a Peterborough address :)

You can go to the ticket office, or call the phone line.
I’m assuming if you call them a Swindon address might be a bit of a no no

They said yesterday at that point they had no plans to send any more, but I am sure if they send them then almost all will be sold.

As you state the extra cost of stewarding and policing may hamper the extra revenue though.
