Title: Stevenage bits and pieces
Post by: Bob's Orange on Tuesday, August 31, 2021, 08:04:48
Has anyone ever driven to Stevenage before for football?

I'm going by car for the first time and wondering where is the best place to park. Not sure exactly what time I am aiming to get there, I don't mind a walk either so any suggestions welcomed.

Fairbanks Valley Car Park, just over the road?

Thanks, looks ideal. But I suspect I'll have to get there pretty early to get a space, which doesn't bother me too much. I'm sure there are lots of cultural hotspots to while away the time!

It's a pretty big car park. There's a retail park a couple of minutes away with a nandos. Not sure how far town centre is or where nearest pub is.
Getting out of the car park afterwards wasn't too bad.

the adver guy has just said:

'Swindon midfielder Anthony Grant has been selected by Jamaica to play in the senior side's World Cup qualifiers for the first time.

He won't be able to play against Panama at home due to UK quarantine rules, but Grant could make his Reggae Boyz debut in away games against Mexico on Thursday, September 2 or against Costa Rica on Wednesday, September 8.

I've poked the club for confirmation, but one would assume this means Town's next two games - against Stevenage and Arsenal U21 - will be postponed.'

So could be irrelevant anyway.

Do we have to postpone or can we play the games

I think the rule is that we can ask for a postponement if we have 3 players called up for International duty. Which you would imagine we probably would.

Cheers Bob, I guess it's down to Garner if he feels we would have to field a much weaker team without them.

Thanks Flash. Yeah I read online about the retail parks. They are really cracking down on people using them for a sustained period of time aren't they. I went to one in Rugby yesterday and they had a notice that you are allowed 6 hours free parking which I thought generous.

There are two pubs close by the Pear Tree & Our Mutual Friend are less than a 20 min walk.

No idea what they are like, or if they let in away fans

I think Out Mutual Friend has been mooted as a potential meeting point for Town fans.

I was bargaining on walk up tickets to be available, I'd best sort my life and get organised and buy some online
