Title: Summer 21
Post by: Legends-Lounge on Sunday, July 18, 2021, 15:21:40
What’s everyone up to today? Currently 33c in the shade at LL Towers. Been weeding between the patio slabs, long overdue and I pick the hottest day of the year. Under the parasol I have to say but still sweating like a glass blowers arse. Home made minced lamb & beef koftas on the BBQ later.

Being of Indian descent and a racist apparently. I could have conjured one up easily, and tastier than your going to get for a lot less but enjoy on the hottest day of the year. Just like being a colonial master back in the days of the Raj eh?

Walking in Fife. Thankfully not as hot as back home or as it was up here yesterday.
Trudging through Kirkcaldy this morning and noticed an impressive set of floodlights looming in the distance so just wondering who plays there?

Would recommend getting the reserve a ride passes if you haven’t already

We're visiting family in Hampshire after our first 3 months living in Scotland.  Weather's been generally pleasant up north in that time.  Lovely & sunny recently with temps in the low/mid 20s.  But I'm now seemingly unable to handle a south of England summer.

Way too hot for me.  Must be going native already.  🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Spent the day putting laminate flooring down (or to be more precise, watching my DIY-capable friend put laminate flooring down and occasionally handing him a board). Room is west facing, and a complete sun trap

Being ginger and also with sweat glands that activate at anything above 15 degrees, I detest this time of year

This is what gets me.  There's a tendency for newspapers etc. to assume the hotter/warmer the better when writing about the weather.  But why?  When it's too hot, there's no escaping the heat/irritability/lethargy/difficulty sleeping.  Sunburn, insect bites...all part of the territory.  In Winter - unless you're on the poverty line or homeless (& I appreciate that would be horrific if you are) - most of us can easily remedy being too cold.  You stick on another jumper, or turn the heating up a notch.  Mid-Summer is the only time of year that I think I'm genuinely unable to escape the effects of extreme weather.

I was made for hot weather and I fucking love it. I literally only sweat when it’s like this and I can spend the whole day sat in it - within reason.

Think the only time I’ve disliked the heat was after falling asleep in the sun in turkey. Felt like I couldn’t breathe when I woke up.

I fucking hated the cold in Britain. Absofukckinglutely detested it. It's one of the reasons I ended up out here.

It can get a bit uncomfortable out here but rather that than being freezing cold. It can get relatively cool out here sometimes, but it's comfortable long-sleeved shirt weather. In the meantime, the Thais will be layering up.

I like the fact we get seasonal weather. I couldn't live somewhere where it's constant all year round.
It's a  bit stuffy now but it won't last long. I was in Rome a couple of years ago and it was 35c with a feel of 41c. The metro wasn't much fun  :)

This current weather is perfect if you were holidaying or at the weekend or if you were off work or a student having summer holidays.

This weather is shit to work in & sleep and twice as bad, if you work nights and have to try and sleep during the day.

Basically is great for leisure. Too hot for day to day BAU life

It's been raining for a couple of days and barely scratched the 30's.

It does look like we will be back to normal soon though.  As someone who detested the cold, especially combined with the wet, I love it near Atlanta.  8 months of summer, couple of months of spring and autumn and then sometimes a Friday of Winter.

You're all mental, this is fucking bollocks, so far only one truck in the four I've had since it started getting hot has had fully functioning AC, I'm pretty much deaf in my right ear from the wind noise of having my window open the whole journey, I got stuck to the leather seat in last night's truck, the trailer was like a fucking oven, I slept like shit and have another four days of this. Surely there must be some kind of legislation that the Truck company can't send their drivers out onto the roads without working A/C? Driving on the motorway with your window wide open means you are sucking pollution into your lungs on a daily basis. Plus being too hot increases the chances of you falling asleep at the wheel I would have thought?

Job used to be fun in those days, could get away with murder in those days, freedom on the road, once you left the depot they couldn't contact  you until you reached your destination, sometimes two days later if you were doing Scotland !!. Not like nowadays, spied on all day. Fuck that.

Oh I've been told I'm a postman with a licence many times, don't worry about that... the leather is only due to it being a hire truck, leggy 66 plate Scania. I passed in a manual, and have driven a manual precisely once since :D Mind you, our DAF fleet are worse, as Arriba can attest to!

Bought a brand new DAF in 2003,  480bhp  85XF, superspace cab, all the extra's,  worst truck I ever bought, continually blowing air valves and fuel consumption wasn't that good !!. Got did of it after just three years.
