With the current circumstances surrounding the club bringing the best and worst out of members. I’ve been having a little peek at those who are currently online from time to time. It is interesting to see how long members have been members and how many posts they’ve made etc. Fake Name is an interesting one. Joined July last year, been on for long periods today with no posts, makes me wonder who these people are and what they get from the forum.

At the other end of the spectrum, there appear to be instances where the forum member could focus on the quality of post rather than the quantity.

I probably fall into the category of ‘long time lurker’. Can’t remember when I joined the forum but I’ve supported Swindon since Oct ‘85. (Sunderland in the Milk Cup). I like this site because it is a good source of gossip without the absolute loons the come with Facebook. I don’t post very often because I generally have a hectic life (kids / work) and tend to minimise my distractions and notifications.  I only ever met one forum member, who I travelled to games with after I moved to Kent, sadly he passed away a few years back. I used to imagine that you all knew each other and it was a bit of a clique but have discovered that is not some much the case. I’m sure I’ve met some of you and not realised though. I lived in Swindon as a youth and have been going to home and away games ever since - about 5 or 6 a season typically. This site is second and not to the BBC as my go-to websites (sad, I know)

I confess to be one of these lurkers.  I joined this forum 12 months ago with a torrent of "Clem is great" messages (based on my own experience of meeting him, coupled with fear and frustration with the current regime) which were mostly met - probably understandably - with cynicism and mistrust.  Obviously a hell of a lot has changed since then including that Clem is much more circumspect in his response to messages of good luck with a fairly standard "thanks mate all will be OK when we take control of the club" - which seems appropriate given the complexity of the current circumstances.

I am grateful for this forum as it is a reliable source of information, as well as explanation of some of the more complicated and technical elements of the takeover.

I am also grateful to the Trust who have worked tirelessly on this and have secured some great media coverage in the last few weeks.  

Above all I am a Town fan of 35+ years who just wants this to be over and is cautiously very excited about what might lie ahead, laced of course with morbid fear of the alternative.

I don't think the post was created to knock anybody that dosen't post frequently more to highlight that a poster with a strange name had been online constantly for a year without posting a single message.

TBH mate I think you have the same trust/mistrust/hope/despair issues as we are all currently feeling.

You have already posted far more than several lurkers anyway so you are less a lurker than an occassional poster now, you have been promoted :)

Many years ago when I posted under a different name, this was one of the best forums around.
I use to be in the private section as well, so I know how you make opinions of others.

Unfortunately it now has a handful of posters who rule this site (please do not have different opinion to the click).
Not having a go, but one of the reasons why many do not bother to post.

As has been said by myself and other posters, some have been hounded out and won’t ever be seen again sadly.

And have been blocked for speaking their mind.

Any examples? I am not sure that many have been banned.

I am not sure that speaking his mind was the reason why he attracted the ire of the admins, but I could be wrong on that. 

A case of wilful ignorance there! He was banned (weren't you both temporarily banned?) for spamming the shit out of this forum. IIRC, the ban was lifted and he chose not to come back?

I've read this forum since it's birth (20 odd years ago??)  Joined as a member a few years ago.

As I live in Kent its been a good place to get Town news/views/gossip and fellow fans views. I post when I feel I've got something worth posting really..

One thing about this forum is that it never really grew into something big. We have a total of 1,293 members, not many compared to similar sized clubs. Don’t often see new members sign up, just wondering why it never really took off.

I think if you go back 10/15 years that was probably more the case, but those groups have drifted apart socially and linked to that, don't post here as much.

It's a bit like a long-running show where almost the entire cast has been replaced. I can only think of Scrubs as an example though, which doesn't bode well  :facepalm:

The ban was lifted, he was told in no uncertain terms not to carry on and he carried on so we permanently banned him. Then he goes all woe is me with the messages etc.

He was told, directly by more than one mod to stop the bullshit. He didn't. We move on.

That was mostly the reason I fucked off for a while - as well as falling out of love with STFC. I suppose like most forums there is an almost approved view and those that deviate can cop it occasionally. Although, I'm centrist left, there is a view that labour is good and anyone who votes tory or who has a right wing view is a child eating mutant cunt. Far from the case, the ones I know are decent but with a different view of the world but its like a playground - denounce the devil.
Also, again like most forums there will be a clique or two. There are plenty of "independents" though which make it worthwhile

I guess I am an occasional poster - I tend to post only on football / STFC related issues.
I have been a fan since my Dad first took me to the CG in January 1967. I don’t live locally now and for a while family issues limited attendance at games, but have had a season ticket for about the last 7 or 8 years, and if we eventually start the new one under new ownership will do so again.
I was introduced to the forum by the late Neville W (RIP Terry) whom I knew well. I was a lurker for many years before posing - my user name relates to the last  pay off final at Wembley, when I told my mate that HA was on the pitch warming up and he said “not Harry Agombar!

I'm an independent and also think Tories are cunts. Don't buy into Labour is good point at all. If Labour were, and when they were in government, they got it too. They've been highly criticised on here.

Had some right old ding dongs with the cliquey gang back in the day. I found it entertaining. They used to go in all guns blazing. Never been less cliquey on here as now. I'm of the view in that I don't get into arguments/abuse, as frankly I'm too old for it/don't care or have time anyway.

Wasn't there a prolonged time where no one could sign up due to a technical glitch, that will be the reason why it never really took off and not because its just loads of middle aged (and older) men wittering on...

Haha a fine year indeed. Much the same as you though. I'm in an STFC group on Whatsapp, so get a lot of info from people on there, but always nice to come back to the ol' TEF for more info.

We need a bit of ‘marketing’ maybe, to freshen it up a bit. There used to be a few females on this site if I recall but I’m not sure if there are any left now, at least not ones that post. I can’t imagine what puts them off :-)

I was at home in Australia, when I was there in ‘91. Loved it so much I could have lived there permanently, so technically I was ‘at home’ in Australia, I just do not live there.
