Title: Star Trek:TNG
Post by: Hunk on Sunday, July 4, 2021, 17:21:26
So I’ve made this my jam for the next 10 days. First few episodes in particular haven’t dated well but it’s improving. Patrick Stewart is fantastic and Troi is one foxy lady. Any Trekkies out there

Weird.

I’ve also started this, this week - having never watched it.
It stemmed from a catch up with a mate and talking about the PC game Birth Of the Federation - that we used to play.

I’m 12 episodes in and I’m really enjoying it.
Visually it actually holds up really well for something made in ‘87. I’m guessing it’s a lot of miniatures rather than CGI - which I still think looks better

Things like the voice commands and touch screens probably seemed futuristic in 1987. Common place now. Fairly good prediction there tbh.

Oh & given the opportunity I’d smash the living daylights out of Deanna Troi

Have been to Patrick Stewarts house.

Unsurprisingly, there is Star Trek TNG memorabilia everywhere.

Also a nice cinema in the basement

I've watched it at least 5 times through in the past 6 or 7 years. Currently on Season 4 of DS9. It's great TV and there are some stand out episodes that are truly incredible. Patrick Stewart is a wonderful actor.

Boldly going through the box set as we speak, albeit at impulse power.
Near end of S3.

Wesley Crusher is as irritating now as he was back then.

Engage!

it holds up pretty well though.

Always used to watch TNG when it was broadcast on British tv and it was ahead of its time then. Got back into Star Trek when Amazon commissioned the Picard series which I enjoyed. Was pleasing to see a few characters from TNG were in Picard including Troi who probably not as foxy as she once was but I would still.

It’s nothing 5 pints of Stella wouldn’t solve

I mean as a 36 year old man I probably wouldn’t do her now as a 66 year old woman.
However if she looked like she did in TNG then there is clearly no debate.

*Redacted, avoiding S1 season end-ish spoilers that those that have watched it will know what I'm talking about and probably share the sentiment of*

Bloody oil puddle :crash:

Yeah, production on S1 and S2 to an extent were very much a mess. There's quite a lot of unhappy cast members from that time which is one reason you end up with the situation you are talking about. And another cast member temporarily going. You see them again in various forms though.

Like all Star Trek (apart from maybe TOS) it takes a while to find it's feet.

Would have been nice to introduce Weley to the oil puddle though.
