Good to have the Euros back after a few days off, although I've just tuned in to a deeply needless dig at Swindon from the commentator after he confused Sweden and Swindon

Unfortunately also different to England in that they concede goals.

A good one, in this case.

Loved the early commentary gaffe that had Swindon beating Slovakia rather than Sweden, which was quickly corrected by commenting that it was unlikely that Swindon could beat anybody right now.

I’m Welsh living in Swindon.

Totally outclassed but to be fair, for a country of 3M Where football is our 2nd sport, we’re punching above our weight just getting here.

I hope England go on to win it - if nothing else to stick one up to the EU for allowing 20,000 Danish fans into Holland and banning any Welsh fans from travelling. Probably wouldn’t have changed the result but we were essentially playing Denmark away.

Compare that to Scotland with 5.5M, is their no.1 sport and never qualified beyond a group stage.

Very similar to their opener v Turkey. Except this time they didn't control things quite as much. Austria are no mugs but I thing Italy will ultimately have too much as the game goes on.

Also, Immobile is anything but.

That was selfish from Berardi there. Should've headed it. Rewarded by being subbed.

Strange they took Immobile off though. Would infer that Italy are now going to wake up and go for it in the last 5mins or ET. If it does go to penalties, the Immobile move could be a key tactical error.

This has been a trickier tie than most expected, not least Italy. A little complacent maybe. Massive credit to Austria - regardless of the end result.

I pretty much only gamble on international tournaments, and every two years I get a good reminder of why. Think I'm about to go to two winning bets out of 15, and most of them weren't even long shots. Mugs game. Or at least, this gamer is a mug.

Depends on what markets you bet on to be honest and what odds you want.

I tend to avoid betting on teams to win (even though I bet on Denmark to beat Wales at evens as the price was too high).

I tend to bet on the corners market. I made a mint betting on Swindon corners last season. As we were outsiders in most games you could get even money for Swindon to get 5 corners or more at home and 4 corners or more away. Swindon generally went behind in most games and had to go forward to press for equaliser.

Brighton were great for corners last season.

That was an absolutely fantastic defensive header from Lainer at the end there. Almost worthy of a goal in itself. It is a simple technique to flick on/away a header but at that particular moment, many would buckle.

I want Austria to win now, which means Italy will probably go and win it. Impressed with Austria though. Surely only fitness can be the main indicator now?  :hmmm:

Austrian's crumble (or strudel). Fitness was starting to show just a few mins ago with the late challenge from Hinteregger.

Difficult now for them but Italy have ramped it up. Maybe the result we expected in 90mins but Austria have certainly made them work for it. I expect this to be a rather relaxed 2nd half of ET. Can't see Austria offering too much now, not without exposing themselves more than the jovial tissue abandon of Matt Hancock MP. Which would end up with them getting an absolute routing from Italy!

How JQ?  :D

"Scalp" was a nod to the Austrian who assisted (Schaub) and it was shocking defending by the Italians at a corner - especially by their historical standards (even though they are now play more like Spain a few years ago). You wouldn't have seen that from the master, Maldini.

The 2-2 or 3-1 was based on Austria still "going for it" and snatching an equaliser or getting caught on the counter in trying to do so. Which they did for much longer than most thought they would (myself included). The usual tends to happen in FA Cup games when a smaller club "goes for it" and sometimes it works but they gamble is always flattering the opposition and losing heavily.

I said well done to Austria because of all of the above and they made the game far more interesting to watch; from a neutral perspective :)

Has Parker gone back to Fulham yet?  :hmmm: :Ride On Fatbury's Lovestick:

I know HR-K is in his 30s but Wales missed his additional flair and longe range ability. As for youngsters, Tyler Roberts is pretty handy but only got 12mins and the former missed out due to breaching Covid protocols I think?

Crazy to think Wales had a Goal of the Tournament player from 2016 not at the tournament this time around. I'd have still taken him and probably Tom Lawrence too.

No the score didn't end that way, quite evidently. But I was posting "live" as the match unfolded so was commenting as such...have you never done such a thing during a match? It is something of a state of flux - meaning it is very changeable and generally constantly so.

However, Scott Parker never went to Bournemouth for a day trip just so he could become coach of the club he already manages. Again  ;)

Apologies though, I'll never make another comment regarding what "might" happen during a live match again...

Ahh come off it man. I didn't say that so much. I even understood why as well (due to the VAR delay). I think most of us thought it was a goal, you just happened to jump first but there was a caveat inserted and very clearly as you can see below.

It's really all irrelevant now but no hard feelings. I was only ribbing you about Scott Parker you daft sod. Didn't think you'd take it that to heart but then again, I've no idea of your current circumstances, so apologies if what I said has ruffled you :)

Welsh beaten deservedly by a good Denmark side. This tournament Gareth Bale has been shit. Absolutely dire. Keifer Moore on the other hand has been a surprise.

To me, Bale has been playing way too deep.
It’s almost like Bale/Page don’t trust the rest of the team enough to give Bale enough service in the final third so he drops deep to try and drive forward and create for others.

Ramsey is good enough in that midfield to create for Bale
